i got the eviction notice on the 20th of july.
I pay rent on the 6th of each month, if we were to stay
would I owe a half months rent for august?

Non payment is grounds for quick eviction. Almost everything else can be delayed through legal actions. You should stay till Aug. 30th since you're going to need some income before moving.
