In these casino areas, I can't believe there are multiple cameras at every light post in the parking lot. Obviously these casinos feel like cutting costs and the security dept looks like #1.

I would imagine in LA area, that plenty of theives find these cardrooms to be the honey pot. I mean its like a guarantee every night someone will walk out with a lot of cash on hand. I assume everyone's real life experience always happened at night?

Even if it has never happened to you, does not mean it won't. If you were doing statistics it seems your probabilty is higher to get robbed there than many other public places in the city.

After reading these true stories, I plan to take extra precaution. The security escort, even though seems un-macho, is something I will consider if I visit in the future.

I asked one of my martial arts instructors about personal self defense in the parking lot. He's a great fighter, and a fulltime cop. He showed me the following items that he had on his person. The first was a flashlight. He shined it into my eyes in broad daylight outside, and it was BRIGHT. Just a quick flash, and I had a bad sunspot obscuring my vision for many seconds thereafter. I think it would badly blind someone at night. It's specifically designed to do so actually.
There are many different models of this flashlight. You can find them here

Another very nifty item is this pepper spray. It's simply the best designed pepper spray I have ever seen. The safety is extremely easy to pop off and it blasts out from the bottom. Check it out here at ASP's website. They also sell collapsible batons, which are srsly illegal in CA, but may be permissable for you in your state. Check your local laws before purchasing and carrying.

Stay safe guys

That's the "usual" scenario, eh? What's the unusual scenario? So they always just plunk the person over the head w/ a gun, eh? It sounds just like a movie.

These threads are totally over dramatic. I've been a live pro for five years now, and I've heard of 3 stories, all from the Commerce, and not one of them was robbed in the parking lot.

There was a problem with people getting followed home, it happened to two white chip limit players, a friend of mine got robbed across the street at the gas station when he stopped, and as you now know, you should NEVER stop anywhere near Commerce, just get on the freeway and go home.

I dont think most of the people in this thread fit the criteria (i.e enough money to be worth the risk) to be robbed, but if you carry enough money to be robbed, than valet, valets at every casino is directly out front of the casinos main entrances and all casinos have security guards posted at the front doors. And if you have enough money to worry about getting robbed, you should have enough money to pay for valet, and if you dont, you deserved to be robbed.

When you drive home find a route where when you get towards your house its a long narrow street and make sure no one is following you, be very catious, its not hard.

Srsly though... Bringing anything other than a gun to a gun fight is horrible advice and will most likely get you killed. If you aren't willing to ignore laws that disarm you and enable criminals to have their way with you then get a security escort. Their job is protecting the casino's interests which includes keeping gamblers safe. Short of that, just give them the [censored] money. Its just money.
