I'm trying to understand why the first hand is such a bad beat. Obviously the second hand isn't a beat, but it just a cooler.
In the first hand, it's a coinflip preflop although you have the initiative. On the flop, he has a full house and you have 4 to the nut flush. Yeah, it's nice that a straight flush came, but you didn't need it, you hit your flush on the turn. Granted, he's still ahead of you on the flop (you make the flush less than half the time), and getting runner runner to a straight flush is pretty rare, but it's not that bad a beat (statistically). I'd say ~52:48 if you take into account some rarer runner combinations giving you a straight or a bigger full house. edit: didn't use poker stove (i'm just really good at these calculations).
