I think that 3betting light is fine, but seems like you picked the wrong opponent...

Try playing more tables? Or meditation or something

He was a mf'king positionally aware regular. This was the whole foundation for this bluff. He is 25/12/3 with 26 att to steal. He raises in CO every second hand. And I was running like 14/10 or something like that for the last 150 hands.

Bro, you can not sit here and tell me that you've never made a monkey move yourself, regardless of the odds, holdings etc. Hell, my goal is to NOT make one of these a day. Some days I make it thru, other times meh, I'm the monkey.

I have a note on my monitor telling myself to "Don't be the Monkey!"

So that said, quit being the monkey and quit whining about a 2BI downswing. Use this time of card-deadness to work on your discipline and don't pull FPS moves that probably won't work.

But if you MUST do something, try 3-betting lighter or trying different lines.

Or hell, take a few hours off and read a book, enjoy the HR Derby tonight or *gasp* find a woman

We've all been thru it and just persevere bro. There is light on the other end of the tunnel. Just be glad it's not a 20 BI downswing

Quick ??? fellas...

What is considered "good" for W$SD?

I'd assume anyhing near or above 50%?

While we're at it, couple that with WtSD...the reason I ask is I'm curious if they are related...

What I mean is if someones a nit, say @ 20% WtSD, their W$SD should be higher, no?

But if someone is a non-nit, and their WtSD is @ 25-27%, their W$SD will be lower. I assume anyway.

That said, what's a decent range?

[/ QUOTE ]

felix,

a good w$sd is probably like 55%, Anywhere from 50-58 is good, anything more and your calling too little, anything less and your getting run over, went to show down obviously depends on your playing style.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks...I was hoping to get more replies on this too...

The reason I ask is that a fellow 2p2er and I were discussing this earlier and I HATE that my W$SD runs from 48-51%, usually right between 49-50%. My WtSD is usually @ 24% to go with those stats...

Now, I'm a considerable winner (at 25NL was just over 8PTBB/100 over @ 80k hands) and a 6PTBB/100 winner since the move up this month (small sample size and all that), but it seems to be pretty doggone consistent in that range.

That said, I can't really figure out how/where to get that up a little bit, because if I can up it just another % point or 2, I really feel as though I'll be crushing the game for a good bit more $$$ than I am already.

Thoughts?

Anyone else have a horrible start to the month? I'm down 21 buyins at NL50 after the first 5 days of July. I still have another 30 buyins for NL50, but I don't know if I should keep playing at that level or move down or what. I beat NL25 for ~4.3ptbb/100 over 50k hands and I was beating NL50 for ~2.4ptbb/100 over 50k hands, so I feel like moving down is moving backwards. I review hands with a friend that plays med-high stakes and, for the most part, I'm not playing bad (I run about 18/14/2.6). I just keep getting sucked out on and I can't make money with my big hands. My friend said that he didn't even think it was possible to run this bad. I don't even remember what it feels like to win anymore. Anyone have any advice? Move down? Take a break? Move up to where they respect my raises?

[/ QUOTE ]

Let's just say that you're running almost as bad as I am lately... I also can't seem to have a winning day anymore and I swear to god I must of had KK like 8 times in the past week up against AA and never been able to get lucky..

I even had a hand yesterday or 2 days ago in which I 4 bet a guy preflop and he CALLS with KK against my AA, sure enough flop is K high and I'm sitting there thinking, I'm shoving anything now at this point, and sure enough the flop is K high and he has KK... wtf

[/ QUOTE ]

i'm not sure running 2.4ptbb over 50k is "beating"... If I run 2.4 over 50k hands I am really upset... anyways downswings happen, and running bad happens, but if you are a consistant winner, and you feel like you've been losing lately, but getting your $ in good (not tilting) or letting the fact that you've dropped 21 buyins effect your play (which is not always easy to do) then stay at nl50, things will turn around.

felix,
what are your numbers? I'm playing like 22/18 right now and i go to showdown 29% and win 56%....... you probably play tighter than me.... so you won't go to showdown as often...

Nope I'm the resident LAG here in uNL, who tends to adjust his play instead of to numbers perse, but to the table dynamics. Keep in mind that I'm a B&M player moving over to online in Feb. I play up to 5/10NL live, but still grinding/learning online.

That said, I'm 23/14 w/ WtSD 24/49 W$SD. I know I know, I hear about my PFR all the time, but it really works well for me. Again, I only 4-6 table, so I am able to adjust my play from super NIT 10/8 up thru AggroMonkey 35/30 and anywhere in between, depending on what the table dictates I play, hence the odd numbers.

But as everyone here is, I'm all for new ideas and ways to improve

Reverse. The laggier you play, the less showdown you have simply since most of the time you have nothing to show

Not an absolute value of course, but the ratio of showdowns to your vpip.

Exactly, so the nittier you are, the higher your W$SD is, where as your WtSD will be lower because you fold all but the nuts

So I guess I shouldn't sweat the 49% W$SD basing that off of my WtSD and VPIP I suppose...it's just irritating not being over 50% is all. Just. So. Close. Grrrrrr lol.
