Han,

Pastels are generally lightish/soft colors like pink, sky blue, a mild lime green, that kind of thing.

i don't wear short sleeve shirts that are button down - i have a bunch of them, but every time i put them on i think they look dumb.

[/ QUOTE ]

My friends and I consistently make fun of guys who wear button down short-sleeved shirts. Particularly if they are plaid.

[/ QUOTE ]

so what do you think guys should wear instead?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that if you're looking for something short-sleeved, you need to go with a polo- or golf-shirt. If the occasion calls for something more dressy, then you've got to go with a long-sleeved button down.

This may be a regional thing; as I said, though, guys who wear short-sleeved button downs are major dweebs around here. <shrug>

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree almost 100%. Wear a long sleeve button down with the sleeves rolled up, it looks a million times better.

[/ QUOTE ]

to echo what daver said above, 1 solid exception is short sleeved linen shirts. I bought a few from Zara, and they feel great in hot weather, and look great b/c they don't look like a dress shirt with short sleeves. they aren't appropriate for all occasions, but I wear them around a lot. I also have a plain white one I got from Banana Republic, and a couple other random ones.

the only downside is that my Mom told me they looked like a bunch of shirts she threw away years ago

All,

I'm going to a wedding at the chapel at the University of Maryland, 5p ceremony. Reccomendations for slim-fit suits? I tried on a Versace but I was priced out. Basically <$1,500.

fwiw, I wore shorts to school a few days ago. I just had to pick something up which took 1 minute. I was seriously the only person wearing shorts, except for three guys who looked like nerds. And it was a hot day in Amsterdam.

just need this cleared up. when wearing polos with jeans, the polo should remain untucked. correct?

dads are different. they aren't supposed to care how they look or how clothes are supposed to be worn. I'd go out on a limb and say there is never a reason to tuck a polo in, if you feel like you should then it probably means you shouldn't be wearing one in the first place.

i bought a sweet new shirt the other day, but turns out it is a silk/cotton blend and says "dry clean only." should i really dry clean it or will it be ok to wash in the delicate cycle and air dry?
