[ QUOTE ]
"There's only one man/woman/gang that is stupid/brave/smart enough to do this job...." [/ QUOTE ] Good one. Usually followed by... Man/Woman/Gang: "I'm out. I don't do that anymore. I have a family now, etc." 15 minutes later, when the s*** is hitting the fan. Random Person: "Look over there. It's (man/woman/gang)!" |

Someone is at a restaurant and gets some bad/worrisome news and immediately orders a strong drink, e.g., "Waiter! I'll have a Manhattan!" or if they've already ordered one, "Better make it a double," etc. This was even done on The Office, which really annoyed me.

You guys might enjoy Ebert's movie glossary.
Some examples I found there: "Tell me where you are and I'll come and get you." Telltale line that finally makes obvious to everyone (except the hero) that the hero's trusted friend or supervisor has gone over to the bad guys. 'This just keeps getting better and better' Line uttered for no reason other than that it makes a great button for the trailer ("Men in Black," "EDtv," "The Mummy"). |
