Stay in school, don't do drugs. Mmmkay?

Seriously, I'd say it depends what you're in school for and what you plan to do with your degree. ie: If you're in any "professional", competitive program (engineering, medical, law, etc) and plan a career in that field, then definately stay with it and don't put the career on hold., OTOH, if you're a liberal arts student and your degree may or may not relate to your eventual career then taking some time off prolly isn't nearly as huge a deal (as long as getting back to it is not going to be a problem).. ie: if you're a history major destined for a Starbucks career, taking a year off is not gonna make a lot of difference.

MTTR- hang in there.

I think a lot of the reason you are getting crushed in the Sklansky Bucks department is from your SH6M play. I used to play SNGs and I know the pain of constantly losing coin-flips and races where you are a 60/70/80% favorite. It gets really, really frustrating. How much (Sklansky Bucks)are you up/down for the year?

[/ QUOTE ]

I was about 1 buyin below equity for the whole year.
it's just real strange that I'm down 27 buyins in the last 25k hands.
I really do feel like someone hit a doomswitch on me.

Oh yeah, jumping back and forth from 6max to fullring is a bad idea. I should've been up 4 or 5 buyins at fullring yesterday, but it would take the jaws of life to pry an overpair/top set from my hand despite them obviously being beat. They were easy felts at 6max, but easy folds at fullring. grrrrr...blew about 4 buyins that way. I also got in a blind pissing match and blew a buyin on 97off. Some guy raised my blinds 5 times in a row. The previous time, I reraised with AQo, he 4-bet, I folded. This time, he raised again, so I reraised. He 2.5X 4-bets and I push. He goes deep into the time clock and calls with KK. ugh...guess he wasn't messing with my blinds after all.
Now, Ian Barnes OTOH is a tenacious, lying blind theif.

oh yeah, I did well late last night (up a few buyins despite my idiocy). The games were really juicy .
BGnight was playing fullring
Called Down Light was shortstacking 100NL FR
Ian Barnes was ridiculously stealing on me
I bluffed Ryan CMU with what was likely the best hand
There were tons of 2p2ers , but tons of donkeys as well

if you dont think we are gona have less and less players and the ones that will remain will be better than the players you are playing against right now you live in fantacy land, when was the last time you remember seeing the active stars players over 100K? I havent seen it reach that level in months now... but I know its hard for you to accept because you are making a living at this but its inevitable.

[/ QUOTE ]

People enjoy playing poker. 90% or so are losers, but they still play.

As long as there are games going, the best players will find ways to win. As games get tougher, mediocre players who were slight winners will become losers. These players then play less or step down, and then the games become better.

It's the circle of life of the poker world. I've personally seen it and it is what RW is referring to in his article.

I'm under the impression that you are one of the mediocre players who is now struggling to win. I am sorry to hear that.

[/ QUOTE ]

the mediocre players become losers and they stop playing (losers stop playing) and then the games become better!!!!

one of the dumbest things I've heard on these boards!
