I took a cruise recently where they had one PokerPro table. I was excited about this since the hands per hour would go up and the legendarily poor players on cruises. However, the one problem that ruins these tables arose. It was broken and they would not have the part to fix it for several weeks. I wanted to cry. This is one problem that you would not have with a live/dealer table. |

There's one argument against these tables that I don't think I've ever heard addressed. Video blackjack machines have been around forever, and yet most casinos are full of real blackjack tables with live dealers instead of machines. [/ QUOTE ] This is one question I have- are ALL blackjack machines REALLY blackjack as we understand it? Or are some of them video dressing for another type of slots machine? I'm thinking particularly about the Class II machines that some manufacturers are supposedly making for Indian casinos. Anyone know? |

How can I talk to an electronic dealer? Or players that could be half-way across the room from me?
Here's another question- will the B&Ms lower the rake, since the tables are cheaper and could have a better ROI/hour? |

PS - ask your BJ question in the other gambling forum, the experts there will help you. |

I also like to see the people I'm playing against. And I bet the fish do too, I mean they aren't going to donate that much money for playing poker on a pc. The only difference between online and live would be the location, and probably the higher rake (the atmosphere would be gone). [/ QUOTE ] I've been (I believe) a constructive critic of PokerTek's eRoom eTable effort at Hollywood Park. In the eRoom you get to see your opponents. You don't get quite as many chip handling tells but you do get tells. And the atmosphere can be as social (or more social) as a dealer dealt game, when other things were held equal. Of course they often weren't equal (i.e., a deeply propped, short handed small blind NL game tends not to be a happy place given most of the props realize all their money (on average) goes back to the house). ~ Rick |
