So what's the over/under now for how long Torre gets to keep his job?

I don't know baseball as well as everybody else does, but I'm pretty sure the best manager in the world couldn't do jack with his rotation right now.

Agreed...but injuries + crappy pitching not withstanding doesn't ensure Torre's job security.

Torre is horrible though. Micromanages way too much and just doesn't understand some very basic logical things.

i've never been a huge fan of torre, but the roster construction is really weird. 3 1b/dh, and melky/cairo to fill in the rest? odd.

that, and the pitching "depth" is a joke. cashman should be under more heat than torre.

Has Papelbon always pitched from the stretch? I've never noticed that.

You'd think I would have figured that out before now.

huh? so you're saying a rotation of wang, mussina, pettitte, igawa, pavano with rasner/karstens/hughes as potential fill-ins isn't any good?

pavano was obviously going to get hurt, but having 2 other pitchers on the DL right away was unexpected. very few teams have the depth to overcome that. igawa has also been worse than expected.
