Default Smoking in AC

Haven't been down for several months. My buddy went to the Trop last night and said you have to go downstairs and play penny slots to smoke a cig. What is the situation like at Borgata/Taj? Any casino with decent game selection that you can smoke NEAR the poker room?

April 15 was the start of a new law that limits smoking to only 25% of the casino floor. I'm not sure where at the Taj you smoke but the poker room is near the main entrance and you can smoke right out there. At the Borgata you can smoke at the racebook which is right next to the poker room. There is also an exit to the surface lot near the poker room where you can go outside and (obviously) smoke.

I would think the Taj would be ok since there are outside doors on far end of poker room across the hall. 100 feet or so. Before the ban I used to see people always smoking outside there.

Yeah, no smoking in the Taj poker room, but you can walk about 20 feet to where the slots are and smoke there if you want, or yeah, 20 feet to go outside and smoke.

No AC poker rooms permit smoking - Bally's was the last to go smoke free. 25% of each casino floor and outdoors is what it's down to now.

I'm assuming with the new smoking bans in AC that the Motion Picture Society of America is Changing B@M cardrooms of such casinos from Rated R to PG-13

I wonder how many people have been hassled for smoking, but not playing, in the smoking gaming areas? I didn't have a problem at the Trop but I overheard another player complaining that he was told he had to either start playing (penny slots) or move along. Showboat had one sign that said "Smoking Permitted - Active Players Only", but only one out of 3 or 4 I saw. I'd probably get pretty pissy if I was taking a break from the table and got hassled for not playing.

FYI, at the Showboat if you take the elevator by the poker room down to the first floor, there is a bar where you can smoke.
