Why does that cartograph of yours blow up states entirely blue that were in fact very closely divided and in many cases only tipped to the blue side because of one or several large cities? Seems like a mischaracterization of at least several of the states as a whole.

[/ QUOTE ]

It makes Ohio and Florida big too. I don't think anyone in Ohio will ever vote republican again after what those dirty neocons did to the state's pension fund.

This kind of argument is sickening. I actually believe it is YOU who is disgracing fallen troops by trying to stifle reasonable discussion about the war.

[/ QUOTE ]

You are sickening. I am not a proponent of the war in Iraq, and Pinky's OP was the farthest thing from a reasonable discussion about the Iraq war as it gets.

It was the OP's opinion, and the starting point for a discussion.

The only reason you find it 'sickening' is because you don't agree with it.

Your intolerance of other peoples opinions is exceeded only by the lack of surety of your own.........

You are welcome to your view.

It was a statement of opinion. Opinions create debate. Blanket statements like "you can't say that stuff without disgracing the troops" attempt to stifle debate.

As Myrtle pointed out, it's an example of the False Dilemma. If you can avoid the False Dilemma in future your points will carry more weight.

So, no WMD

[/ QUOTE ]

None found. Be specific.

[ QUOTE ]
Over a $100 or maybe $200 billion blown already,

[/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't seem like you know what you're talking about.

[ QUOTE ]
about 2200 soldiers killed

[/ QUOTE ]

Marines aren't soldiers, but you've already indicated you really don't have much of a clue.

[ QUOTE ]
many more maimed and missing limbs

[/ QUOTE ]

If you really care, then prove it or else stop disgracing fallen troops by politicizing their suffering

[ QUOTE ]
who knows how many thousands of Iraqis killed

[/ QUOTE ]

Again, you have no clue.

[ QUOTE ]
Bin Laden still free

[/ QUOTE ]

Explain in detail why he is still free, proving you have a clue regarding military search and recon operations (I'll expect you to demonstrate your military expertise and experience, specifically special forces operations that are being employed to hunt down OBL) otherwise STFU

[ QUOTE ]
crappy infrastructure

[/ QUOTE ]

Huh? What do you even mean by this?

[ QUOTE ]
insurgents having the luxury of taking potshots

[/ QUOTE ]

Quite the opposite. Our Marine/Recon snipers in Fallujah have the luxury of taking the pot shots. It is more of a final moment for the insurgents.

[ QUOTE ]
every soldier in Iraq is one soldier not in Afghanistan hunting OBL

[/ QUOTE ]

We would not have 150,000 troops in Afghanistan. There's that "no clue what you're talking about" thing again.

[ QUOTE ]
Biggest BS ever.

[/ QUOTE ]

People running their mouths without a clue is the biggest BS ever.

[ QUOTE ]
Besides people with a financial interest (defense contractors) supporting Bush, are the other Bush supporters just retarded?

[/ QUOTE ]

All of that red space below is "retarded". I suggest you move to Canada.

[/ QUOTE ]

All of this does seem starkly at odds with "I'm totally against war because of Murray Rothbard," and calling Canis' grandmother a war-monger for working in the factories during WWII. His complaints were valid, if a little off (the numbers were actually worse than he posted) and ineloquently put.

It seems to me is that you're trying to be more anarchist but a little unwilling to give up that side of you that loves conservative partisan politics. If you actually want to follow Rothbard, then give up whatever emotional ties you have with the state. If you end up joining the Marines (for, let's be honest, one of the lamest reasons to join them; because your daddy joined them) you'll just be another "I'm a libertarian because taxes are the work of jackbooted thugs, but I don't mind them when they benefit me" poseur. Plus, that would make you an unabashed hypocrite for accusing an 88 year old woman of war-mongering because she once worked the factories in an effort that she saw was to help end the spread of genocidal fascism in Europe. And, obviously, it would make you an actual war-monger.

This is by far the among the worst replies I have seen...unless you are being sarcastic

How exactly are people trained in warfare and sent to fight not soldiers? Or are you just some leatherneck who says a "marine is a marine and not a soldier?"

More stupidity here...Casualties

[/ QUOTE ]

How about the fact that OBL was surrounded in Tora Bora and GW outsourced the task to Afghan warlords so that he could get those rangers in Iraq shining lasers on targets for bombs... or should I STFU too?

Glad to hear that Iraq is only Falluja, and this is a stupid comment. The insurgents are taking pot shots, except they're using bombs instead of rifles.

[ QUOTE ]
All of that red space below is "retarded".

[/ QUOTE ]

Finally something I can agree with. Remember how the fear of terror was how GW saved his ass in the last election? Why is that any place the terrorists would attack voted blue? "Oh jeesus, maw, OBL is gonna blow up ma cows" How about the fact that the blue areas are more educated and earn more (another sign of intelligence)? How about the fact that the red areas believe that creationism should be taught as a science? Yeah red is retarded...completely agree with you here.

I wish people with your mindeset would get the out of the country too.

This kind of argument is sickening. I actually believe it is YOU who is disgracing fallen troops by trying to stifle reasonable discussion about the war.

No one is trying to underplay the great job the armed forces do in extremely difficult circumstances. However, that has nothing whatsoever to do with a view of the administration which took us into the war.

You have been fed the line that arguing against the war is anti the troops in Iraq. These two viewpoints are not mutually exclusive. One can (obviously!) support the troops and yet be vehomently against the war.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm actually in a distinct minority in that I support the war, but not the troops.

Two counts of missed sarcasm.

Forget that they were not ineloquent. They were idiotic. Every one troop in Iraq is a troop that would be in Afghanistan? Or the idiot claim that we haven't found OBL yet because we outsourced the job to Afghan warlords? (which OP didn't make but rather what some others clambored in to make with their "expert" military analysis)

thank you for the colorful image. this sort of display plays to the idea that geographic expanse correlates to political importance. because more of the country is depicted in red, in other words, it obviously follows that this is the predominant mindset.

you could have represented that the majority of American voters cast votes for W numerically; he earned 51% of the popular vote. instead, you chose to express it this way. your means harks back to the early days of "representative" government in America, when property-owning white males were privileged to participate.

you are not the first to express, implicitly or explicitly, that those inhabiting the vast rural expanse deserve extra political power. even the founders subscribed to this view. note the makeup of the US senate. however, i have found that most who still advance the view that America's urban centers have too much political clout tend to be somewhat racist. at the very least, they are anti-democratic. one person, one vote has been settled constitutional law in the US for four decades.
