Can't wait for the first playoff game in Oakland in 13 years, the Arena should be rocking for that one.

I will be there. I am soooo [censored] stoked.

I love how the coach of the 67-win team is adjusting his lineup to match up against the 42-win team. Nellie > AJ, at least for one night.

my friend who lives in oakland bought 2. one for me, one for him. Friday I will be leaving work in mountainview, taking 237 to 880. Parking at Fremont BART and making the trip up there that way. Nothing like paying 3 dollars instead of like 20 for parking and not sitting in line on a highway all day.

I actually think it makes sense for Avery to go small against the Warriors. He has the roster for it--4 of his starters were deadly open-floor players, and Harris is a better uptempo player than any of the GS starters (Ellis is close). The other way to beat a small, running team is to feed dominant bigs who get high-percentage shots around the basket and offensive rebounds, thus denying the small team chances to run. Well, Dallas doesn't have that option. Damp and Diop are great offensive rebounders, but inept at scoring, and Dirk would rather shoot turnarounds over a 2-guard than back him down.

That said, I think Avery will fold to the pressure, go back to his 67-win lineup, and get blown out in GS. The highlights should be great.

"Well, Dallas doesn't have that option."

They've got a 7 foot MVP who's one of the most efficient players in the league. Just because he has a slick outside game doesn't mean Avery can't tell him to pound it in there.

I posted this stat in the other thread. DAL: +8/-20 with Diop on/off the floor. Even if you're worried about Dampier's speed and defensive liability, Diop is an athletic enough alternative.

Yeah, if Avery can get Dirk to back guys down instead of just turning and jacking, GS could have serious problems. I think he was a little paranoid about posting up based on how fast the doubleteams were coming, so that when he had single coverage he still rushed things. And I'm not worried about Diop's athleticism as much as his scoring. To beat GS with a big lineup you need to pound it inside to an inside threat, and Diop is not that threat. If Dirk chooses to be that threat, GS has serious problems.

I think the Nugs will win one of the first two games again, but struggle as Popovich outcaoches Karl in the 4 following games. Pop adjusts so much better than Karl does.

[/ QUOTE ]

This sounds about right can not stand Karl. But who isn't rooting for the Nugs in this one? Let us gogo!

eh.. when the 4 other guys are some combination of Dirk, Terry, Howard, Harris, and Stack, you just need a guy to clean up the boards and clog up the lane on the defensive end. His athleticism helps when a guy like Harrington tries to stretch him out to the arc. He can deal with it a little better.

I don't think you need to pound it in to beat the Warriors.. you just need to play your offense efficiently and own the boards. Clogging up the lane is a big plus, too.
