^^the tendinitis issue was there last year too, wasn't it?? he said he could get through it...also, how exactly is this injury dealt with?? even with rest, it could flare up at any time right??

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes...I think he had this problem last year too. The only treatment that I'm aware of for tendinitis is rest (I'm sure there are strengthening/PT type of activities he can do as well). But really if this didn't go away over the break then it's probably not going to go away.

I wonder if this nagging injury is one of the driving factors into his wish to start instead of relieve. He would have a lot more time to rest that tendon in between starts...

Like I said...we are stuck with this bullpen for awhile and hopefully Mota comes back strong w/o the roids.

It was only this year that we heard talk of not using Heilman on consecutive days, which makes me think that the tendinitis is worse now.

And just because he should be shut down altogether doesn't mean that he doesn't have a legitimate medical issue. I also wouldn't be surprised if the Mets do, later, decide to shut him down for a while.

There really isn't anyone worthy of calling up from New Orleans should they DL Heilman. Schmoll and Adkins haven't been good down there so far.

Jorge Sosa has been good. But you cannot trust him coming out of the pen in a close ballgame. Humber has been good, but you want him to start. Vargas has been okay, but we don't need another lefty in the pen.

Wow, how quick everyone is to turn on Heilman.

This guy has been nothing short of awesome for 2 straight years coming out of the pen. He had one rough patch last year, but after Duaner went down, Heilman was a beast in that setup role.

Yeah, the HR to Yadier is what it is. And maybe he has some tendinitis issues now.

I, for one, am not ready to throw Heilman to the scrap heap.

Neither am I, especially because we don't have anyone close to being worthy of taking his role right now. If Mota comes back strong and Heilman is still hurting, then yeah...DL him for 15 days around the all-star break to give him some much needed rest. Until then we need Heilman there.

What's the HBP rule? Why doesn't Reyes get one there?
