Rat,

Have you thought about creating your own strategy? Serious? Why follow what everyone else does? Create a strategy that plays against what the majority of other players are doing.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's honestly the dumbest thing I've read today.

your reply is the dumbest thing i've read today. you are one of those types of people who hate on things they haven't tried. compare your winrate/earnings with people who have done/are doing this and it's not going to be close. think outside the box for a change.

[/ QUOTE ]
without revealing your specific strategy, can you give some examples of ways that you would exploit conventional wisdom and think in the way that you do in order to outplay your opponents?

by that I mean I spend twice as much time using poker tracker, analyzing hands, reading books, thinking about hands and situations, as I do on the forums. And im on the forums a lot.

Reading is no replacement for posting. Post 2 hands per day and reply to at least 5.

cassette, not to be a dick or anything, but I don't think thats true at all. Honestly, I feel like THINKING about pokre is far more worthwhile than reading hands, and while this may sound like a diss on ssnl, its definately more worthwhile than reading 90% of the hands in this forum. There's just to much fluff, and theres really nothing to do about that. Lots of new people, lots of basic questions, not bad, but not thought inspiring. Even msnl is kinda going downhill. Part of that is cuz games are getting harder so people aren't talking as much as they used to.

Seriously though, reading 2p2 and posting are both very useful tools, but you have to understand that they are only basic tools, the fact that you can spit out the words "pot control" or "fold equity" don't necessarily mean you understand when they should be used or even what they reallllly mean. Sit down and think about hands and poker and everything. That will trully help you. Alternatively do math calculations on pokerstove to create a more optimal strategy.

Random thoughts, and not really pointed towards anyone, just things I think would help people. heh, who knows....

I agree with you 100% that thinking about poker and analyzing your own play is more important than posting hands. Especially for winning players. But as Rata has said he is struggling to even break even and I think this forum is a very important tool for beginning players.

Just because a hand is basic or LDO standard to you, doens't mean it is to a new player. This forum may not be the golden goose it once was (I wouldn't know) but I think it is still a fantastic tool that should not be overlooked.

To say, yo dude just make up your own strategy, might seem like good advice to someone who is crushing the game. But I think it could be disastrous to someone who can't yet employ the tactics their opponents are using. You have to understand something before you can re engineer it.
