Default Sahara vs Circus Circus

My quest for tight-fisted cheapo weekend lodging in Vegas this summer has led me to these 2 casinos and hopefully their poker rates.

Does any Vegas-savvy individual have a reason why one is better than the other? I played a tournament at Sahara in 05, never been to the CC.

And you never want to go, either.

Though CC has a marginally better location, it is definately not worth the time.

Their poker room is horrid, and they spread low limit only, usually 3/6LHE or 4/8LHE. AFAIK, NL is very rarely spread if ever.

Sahara spreads 2/4LHE, and 1/2NL every day (though the NL games doesn't get going until the late afternnoon, usually).

The tournaments are great at Sahara, and the place has character.

CC is a dump, and the sooner they implode that disgusting cesspoool, the better.

I dunno about the poker rates, but Sahara wins out for a few good reasons:

1.) Kids. CC has em, Sahara doesn't.

2.) Tournaments at Sahara are definitely ok for small rollers.

3.) Poker is better at Sahara in terms of quantity of game offerings. CC's poker room sucks.

4.) Monorail station. Its still too far to walk from CC to anywhere really, so the availibility of the monorail station is a bonus.

I am pretty cheap and I do not know if I would even stay at either of these. Given only these two choices I would pick the Sahara if only because there is a monorail stop there and that gets you to the rest of the strip easy and cheap. Sounds like the poker room there is a better choice as well and if you are intent on getting a poker room rate that is also important.

Seriously though, you might want to consider a different place like the IP, the Orleans or stay downtown and ride the Duce to the strip or something.

Agree with Fishwhenican. If I had to choose between the two I would take the Sahara (I have stayed there, it was fine, and the low roller action is decent).

However, if looking to go cheap I would much rather stay at the Orleans.

By better do you mean better players or better atmosphere? Are the kids good players?

I was planning on using my savings to rent a car.

Thanks for the tips guys, I am leaning towards Sahara now.

But I learned poker in Greektown, Detroit [pounds chest]. I am sure that nothing in Vegas can faze me. Does the Sahara have soft 3/6 or larger lhe games?

And does its tourney reputation attract a lot of rocks?

No 3/6. Sahara has 2/4, NL1/3 (it changed from NL1/2 a couple weeks ago--this seems to be the latest in-thing in Vegas poker rooms), and sometimes, rarely, some sorta 4/8 spread-limit thing.

Rocks at 2/4 and 3/6? Not really an issue.
