yeah I guess my problem with the whole thing is that he didn't drop an "N" bomb, all he did was make comments about their hair, and them possibly being [censored] (loosely based on the fact that they have tattoo's I guess?). So apparently now, you can't make comments about anyone that is a minority. Somehow, because he used slang commonly used by african americans, that made it a racial slur...I don't quite understand.

I'd be more upset that the comment is just stupid in general, but it didn't strike me as particularly racist.

I went to a middle school that was ~50% black... "nappy" was a generic word that everyone seemed to use to refer to messy hair. My white friends and I made fun of each other for having "nappy" hair all the time... I had no idea it usually only referred to black people's hair.

I'm sure people were LOL at us always talking about nappy this and nappy that.

I don't like what he said, but I absolutely loathe the fact that because someone says something offensive he now has to be canned.

Why? If you don't like what he says, don't listen.

It's the sick direction of our country unfortunately.

I think the most offensive thing about it is not that Imus made racist remarks but after years and years of having a terrible, boring and predictable show, Imus is still on the air to begin with.

Exactly ..... When I read his comment his comments I was thinking what an idiot he was for saying that. Did he not think he was going to hear it for making those rude comments? But I didn't think/know they were racist at all.

Imus is a non-issue and this story is a non-issue.

Then the moderators should delete all the threads about this in the various forums, no?

If talking about non-issues lead to thread deletions, OOT wouldn't exist.
