A goal for the year seems way too far ahead. I guess i just want to play good poker, and keep learning.
Oh, and stay active at these forums. I registered this account when i was just starting the .05/.10 games at stars, and 4 months later i'm close to moving up to $1/2 at party. thanks everyone. |

If I 10x my bankroll by the end of Summer, decide if I'm going to do a PhD or poker for the next four years after that.

- Stop Smoking
- 60K+ hands (estimates: 10K-.25/.50, 20K-.50/1, 15K-.50/1*6max*, 15K-1/2) - 10X my bankroll cashing out half of that to cover old "poker tuition" - Reread a lot of what I've read and learn how to aply concepts better. - Post more hands and more responses to hands. - Get better at NL tourneys, MTT's (but not waste as much of my BR on them) - Whore more boniii - Find a girl - Maybe be playing 2/4 - Help "HouseCalls" with his goals - Stop Smoking |

Coming into 2005 my goals were:
1)Deposit $100, start at .25/.50, and build my way up to 2/4 by the end of the year 2)Become a frequent contributor to these forums I had mixed/depressing results. Looking at my registeration date and post count, I didn't really achieve #2. So that's one thing to build upon in 2006. Regarding my first goal, I built my BR up all the way to $2500. I dabbled in some 3/6 but couldn't beat it so I stayed mainly at 2/4 and things were good. Then December 3 rolls around, and I have my office Xmas party. I got trashed. I came home at 3am. I played Party Blackjack. I lost everything (which makes reading Diablo and everyone elses Party BJ posts in the Brag forum all the more frustrating...jk). I woke up sick to my stomach the next morning, not from the booze, but from losing my entire bankroll. I hate blackjack. I don't know what I was thinking. I worked hard to get it up there. And now I have to do it all over again. It was an expensive lesson but Jesus Christ I can promise you I won't be drinking and gambling again in this lifetime. With that in mind, goals for 2006: 1)Read one new poker book a month 2)Play 500 hands daily 3)Post at least 5 times daily on 2+2 4)Work my way back up to, and past, 3/6 and into 5/10 5)To not drink while gambling As an addendum, I took a hiatus from poker after my drunken BJ debacle because I was furious with myself. I finally got my mind right and today I deposited money for the first time since early December. I played 211 hands of .50/1.00 on Party and booked a solid win. It felt good to be back, I really missed it alot. |

1. Read/reread a different poker book every month. Anyone wanna suggest a 12-month schedule for me? I'm in 1/2 right now, but *should be playing 2/4 in a couple of weeks. Probably start January with SSHE then move on to other classics. I have a library containing most of the obvious books. I've read GSIHE, SSHE, TOP, HEPFAP, WLLHE, HOH vol 1&2, ITHE, TPFAP, Weight the Odds. I own but haven't yet read Improve your Poker and PotLimit and No Limit Poker. I wonder what a good progression through those books would be. And adding some others will definitely happen.
2. Comfortably playing 5/10 by the end of the year. 3. Play in some MTT and/or enter satellites that could lead to a big score. 4. Get an A in the last two courses for my degree. 5. Don't let 1-3 interfere with 4... 6. Continue with South Beach diet and lose 40 pounds. Lost 22 already in the last quarter of this year, so hopefully I'll keep it going... |
