I quite don't understand all the Gabe critique here. True, he has made some questionable analysis, but it seems that some idiots here forget two things: a) he's not a professional poker NL player, b)he has something like few seconds to make up with what he says (doesn't have that extra time to analyze the played hand like we do). While it could be possible for him to think about the hands in the editing phase, I really don't believe he does that (of course there might be some exceptions).

Gabe is an excellent announcer and HSP would be so much worse without him. Whether he speaks on top of some interesting table talk or not.

[/ QUOTE ]

what everyone is truly missing here about Kaplan is his poker background. Do you people not realize that he did not grow up playing .10/.25 NL on Party Poker, browsing 2+2, and reading Sklansky/Miller? He's a poker player.. from the way way old days. He is a "feel player" not a "numbers player".

he obviously shows some awareness of pot size and pot odds, but of course he is off sometimes. in cash games, most people are going to play their draws when they are getting about 2:1 with implied odds... christ go out to AC and try to find someone who will fold a gutshot or flush draw.

is kaplan poker's #1 seed? no. is he that awful? no.

wake up people.

IF the Danny episode is to be believed.

[/ QUOTE ]
It isn't.

There is, I suppose, some modest possibility that Gabe and AJ are sitting in a room somewhere watching the game as it happens on monitors and chatting about it, though probably not actually recording what we hear on the finished show. There is no possibility whatsoever that they're seeing the hole cards while they do it.

I read an newspaper interview with Gabe about two months ago. He said all the commetary was done after the shows were already taped. He said they do it like it's really happening live, with the knowledge of the hole cards and only occasionally do something more than once. I'm sure Daniel did it the same way. I think he said they don't even do it in Vegas.

How has no one mentioned the talk in between hands that went something like this?

David Williams: "How should I have played that hand?"
Brad Booth: "If it's about poker, I can't help you buddy."

Also, the way that Erick Lindgren and David Williams move their chips into the pot makes me want to smack them.

Does anybody else find J-Dags kinda creepy?

[/ QUOTE ]

Why?

I feel like he's the guy at the table most like the general 2p2er when it comes to dorkiness, sense of humor, interests, etc.

I like the fact that he actually talks, unlike guys like Ivey and sbrugby who don't say a word unless spoken directly to.

[/ QUOTE ]

lol...i had the same feeling as well. i actually thought those other guys were more whacky, but JDags was "normal" ironically...

QQ hand ... I also would have liked to see a turn semibluff by Daniel/David, particularly Daniel.

[/ QUOTE ]

Only because you want to see if Ivey can pull off the Hellmuth instapushbeatyouinthepot move, right? It's easy to say so since I could see their cards, but I think they were both so obviously drawing that there's no way Ivey wouldn't be repopping a semibluff. Calling lets them draw, raising certainly loses money when they wind up facing a big rr they can't call.

DN's check on the end was probably not to let Ivey fire again, but hoping DW would be fool enough to bet. If he finally leads out, he gets one caller, tops, and only if he doesn't bet too much (what would bet there that doesn't beat an overpair, since the draws didn't come in?). I suspect Ivey is more likely to call if DW bets than if DN bets, and if DN bets, DW isn't calling (and Ivey's Spidey sense is good enough that he might not either).

[/ QUOTE ]

That's hardly an easy decision for an overpair if Negreanu check raises the turn, although I can't remember how deep the stacks were between Ivey and DN (I remember DW was fairly short, having about 40k left on the river). Pretty easy for DN to have hit some wierd two pair or straight on the turn, or slowplayed something on the flop. And even if he gets all in against Ivey, he had almost 20 outs. Also, a checkraise would have gotten Williams out behind him the higher flush draw. It's only obvious Daniel had a draw because you can see the cards.

Daniel didn't check to induce a bluff from Williams, he was probably hoping Ivey would value bet an overpair or something. Williams only had about $40k left on the river, and the pot was like $130k at that point, it would be a very foolish bluff since he can't really represent much on that card. If David had pushed the river, Ivey certainly would have called him.

I think the hand in this episode that stuck out to me the most, specifically the one street that stuck out, was DN's 64dd on the river (58T66 two diamonds board). Why on earth did DN check????!!!! That was a PERFECT spot to overbet the pot and make it look like u missed ur flush, as its pretty hard to put u on a 6 there. I can't see any reason why DN checked that river other than to induce Williams to bluff his obvious missed flush or he thought Ivey would try value betting an overpair. I think he acted too quickly and didnt think about everyone's hand and his best play. I think a 40k-50k bet would have been called by Ivey, possibly not, but it was definitely the best chance to make money on that river, where DN should be pretty much positive he has the best hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

I watched this episode with Brad Booth and he felt it was a good check.

[/ QUOTE ]

I ALSO watched this episode with Brad Booth and I disagreed with him. :-) I think he was more strong about Ivey's check being good, and I said I thought DN's check was bad. He thought it was fine. The reason not to bet is that Ivey could easily have a set, so if DN bets it is bet-fold. DN doesn't seem to be too hot on the whole bet and fold plan.

Is Brad an online pro or does he have a job(company)? I would love to go to the strip club with him and Antonio.
