on an impulse i've decided that i'm gonna take up DJing.

i'm gonna buy some decks, but don't really know what i'm looking for. i've checked out http://www.djstore.co.uk and wanna spend something like £250-£300 (unless more is advised. i'm not exactly busto)

variance: if anyone in the london area can give me coaching, willing to pay/swap for poker lessons

pm me or catch me on aim if you can help

Do yourself a favour and buy CD decks. I am a vinyl DJ and I wish that I wasn't every time I buy records. I don't know how much they cost in pounds, but the Pioneer CDJ 800s are good low end decks.

What kind of music are you going to play?

So as it turns out it's going to be a while before I get the rest of my online monies on my new Party account, so I'm forced to play 100nl for now.

I've decided that it's sooooo ridiculously easy I'm just going to play it for the rest of the month and not deposit anymore on to Party. Gonna put in 2-3k hands a day and just own. Sorry 100nl players on Party.

thankyou for all your responses so far, i feel like ive got alot of advice, from both sides of the argument.

If you want, I can write some about what I've done

thatd b good if u could do that jigsaw. even just a little spiel about your experiences would be awsome.

ive been thinking about it abit more, and ive lived a pretty sheltered life, like never really took many risks or anything. I think that another reason y i want to do this is to throw myself into the deep end, and force myself to get some life experiences. i mean, i dont really know how to open a bank account, or talk to strangers, or basic things like that, because for my whole life these things have been done for me. Of course im gunna make alot of mistakes along the way, but this'll help me learn.

note: im not just gunna go from living this 'sheltered life' to living by myself in an unknown country in one quick step. the plan is, im going skiing in new zealand in a month and abit with just friends, and this'll b the first big holiday ive been on without parents. then ill go to melbourne for a month or two where there's afew ppl i know there, but not a ton. Then if i feel comfortable ill do the big move to sum wierd country where i dont know anyone and i gotta start from scratch.

so yeh, thanx for the advice, and keep it coming in... this is a pretty big decision for me and im tryin to get as many ppls thoughts and opinions as i can

Hey mate,

I'm in EXACTLY the same boat as you. I'm 18. I'm technically enrolled in uni, but I have almost no motivation to go to my classes. I usually end up skipping most of them. I play SSNL and make more than enough money to get by on/travel on. I'm planning a trip similar to what you're thinking later in this year, where i'm just going to go and live/travel from place to place spending however long I want in each place.

I think it'd be really awesome if we met up somewhere (or possibly even set off together, I'm from Brisbane). I've got a friend who's going to come with me for the start and then we'll probably go our own ways eventually.

I really think traveling will give us a better education than Uni would (for now at least). I have no intentions of going back and finishing a degree atm. I took 2nd semester of last year off and only came back this time because my parents were pressuring me too and because I thought I'd give it one more shot. I didn't last a week.

So yeah. Where are you planning on going? I really wanna hit up Europe and spend a good deal of time there, but I also wanna see south america and japan and africa and..well, everything, everywhere.

PM me if you wanna talk more or anything.

SpecT,

2 years ago I moved out/was kicked out of home and for a reason Im still not sure of bought a one way ticket to London where I knew nothing and nobody and was generally clueless about everything. Now, I have (in non-poker terms) a very well paying job, my career path is set, am in a very happy relationship etc etc and yet I STILL feel like theres so much more I want to see and do.

Bottom line is, just [censored] do it. Dont even think about it. Youll be fine and believe me the process of figuing life out for yourself is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. I look at myself and my circumstances just 2 years ago and I'm just like...daaaaaaaamn.
