[/ QUOTE ] The idea behind drunk driver laws is prevention by avoidance (sp?). If you do not drive drunk, it is impossible to get in an accident while driving drunk. I think that is fairly easy to agree with. The law is not based on luck. ie..."If you are lucky enough to have not gotten in an accident, you are not a douchebag."

Once on a Fri night after watching a friend of mine's band I left a bar adn got pulled over no more than 30 secs later. At the time I was alking with a really bad limp. I was arrested and taken to jail. I blew 0.00 and told the cop what an ass he was. I was free to go, they gave me the number I could call to get my car back. I was an hour and a half from home at about 3am by this time and when I called about my car I was told I could pick it up on Mon morning.
