to each his own... but here's the thing. i honestly had and have no intent to be an ass. a few years ago i started nl25/50 on party, and one weekend decided to sit at nl200 and made 2k or something and i was omg i am so fking awesome. i showed my hand histories to a classmate, the only guy @ my school who plays, and the one who got me started with poker, and he looked at a few of the hands i won, and was dude you suck, you didn't play a single one of these hands well.

i brushed off his advice, and continued playing, inevitable downswing ensued, and i continued learning the game... @ that pt when he pointed out that i suck i could have asked him the big Q > how and why do i suck? i'm sure he would have helped me out, and my learning curve would not have been as bumpy etc etc.

in GD and a lot of other msnl'ers, i see a lot of the arrogance i saw in myself. not to pick on him, this is just an example, but i definitely remember his posts where he seems to claim to know what's going on, how superior he is to his opponents, etc etc. then i sit with him a few times, and see how exploitable he and so many other of these "expert msnl'ers" are, and have pretty much not said anything on the boards for a while -- namely b/c i enjoy sitting with them, and because really who i am i to try to put them down? if i see someone post something that i think about and completely disagree with i'll just move on down the thread. i seek out certain ppl's posts who post and think creatively and whose ideas are not one liners or meant to be crowd-pleasing, and after a while i tend to be careful about certain poster's contributions, some because they are generally wrong, and some b/c they generally are not only wrong, but spoken with such arrogant certainty that i wonder wtf they are thinking.

i've learned a lot from 2+2, and i try to post interesting threads, and contribute when i feel i have something to contribute. in seeing gd's post about his downswing i in one way felt bad for him, b/c everyone knows how much downswings suck. but in another way i was not surprised, and mildly amused, at the disbelief he and other posters express when they "run bad" when any (imo) winning player who critically reads their posts, or even sees a small sample size will realize that these "doomswitch" downswings are ironic, and inevitable.

so i disagree in your saying that i have no intent to help. i do. those who read my posts will see that i do my best to share when i can, and contribute to the community which had a large part in helping me out when i was a fish, even when i didn't know it. i also wish ppl had told me i had leaks too when i was just starting out. but then i realize that once all was said and done i was the one who just maybe didn't listen.

i think that if the end happens, we should have something called "pokergeddon" or something similarly catchy. sort of like lollapalooza or bonaroo. bonfires and party poker hoodies and laptop smashings. maybe even hire a PI to hunt down a big name fish and ring and run his house.
