After reading this thread I asked one of my buddies about myspace since he was on there way back in the day. Here is his response:
"I was one of the first people on Myspace, period. It gained initial appeal b/c it didn't restrict you to friends of your friends (like friendster). But what really made it grow was pictures of hot girls. There are tons of hot girls on myspace (strippers, porn stars, and thousands of sluts). So guys would go on and try to be "Friends" with every single hot girl so that they're profile had 265327 friends and most of them were hot girls in bikinis. This made more guys want to join and more girls want to join and the site really took off. Why did the girls want to join if the only appeal was hot sluts? Simple. Hot sluts like to be around other hot sluts and emulate each other. Sluts have extremely low self-esteem so they literally WANT to be objectified as sexual toys. They WANT to be on some dude's friends' list that has 800 hot girls. So the reason myspace is so successful is because sex sells. And there is plenty of sex on myspace. But as a dating tool, its terrible and I'll tell you why: The hot girls are trashy sluts. do you really want to talk to a girl with 7123575 low-class guys from Revere on her page? And even if you do, do you think she'll write back when she gets 200 messages a day? Proof: When I was using myspace, I would use it for a lot of social experiments. One of my experiments was to see what its like being a hot girl on a site like this. So I created ([censored] brilliantly I might add) a hot girl with a typical hot girl's profile. I literally got over a hundred messages a day to the point that I had to take the picture down after one week because my mailbox was overflowing (900 messages). I later turned my creation ("Alexis") into a lesbian and had some fun with that, but thats another story." I seriosly had no idea my friend was even doing this. |

I have enough pictures on my PC of an ex-girlfriend or 2 (No headshots) that I could get away with using on a Myspace account...I may consider the logistics of a girl only account...
