I used to collect and trade live recordings. tSP and RH were/are very good bands for this, as they're both very good live and they change it up quite a bit. They have very good recording and trading communities with people dedicated to spending the immense amounts of time and money to get the best recording equipment possible and then spreading it to the masses, for various amounts and forms of gain. There's a completionist aspect to it. There's wanting to have the best recording of every song for each era. For some, it's almost equivalent to a hobby like stamp collecting, only with CDs.

I could be wrong, but I might well have more handgrippers (Captains of Crush and similar level by Robert Baraban) than anyone else here. I think I have about 15.

mp3s - about 265 gigs, and a few gigabytes on my computer i haven't catalogued yet.
dvds - 1500-1600 or so... i still have to catalog some ugh.

I understand your Smashing Pumpkins collection my friend had hundreds of cds as well as many many unopened vinal from Pumpkins, he was obsessed. The bumper stickers and baloons are no longer at my house so i'm going to give up those titles. However 34 bottles of specifically South Australian wine will still probably hold up.
