The scrappy play of Delonte, Big Al, and Rajon makes this team very watchable despite the losses piling up.

The above three with Paul Pierce and Greg Oden is a title contending team. We can only hope.

That would not even put them close to contenders. They'd be a 45-37ish type team, and maybe make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

They are a very young team with the exception of Pierce and Wally, but the young guys seem to be pretty talented. Its going to be atleast 2-3 years before we can really see where they are headed.

I just hope they dont trade away their young talent again like they did with Billups and Joe Johnson...

I really like Rondo. He can't shoot worth a lick, but he can defend, he can push the ball, and he can actually pass as well. Telfair is worthless and Delonte is more a 2 guard than a point. I hope Rondo gets more playing time down the stretch.

As much of a homer as I am, Rondo and G. Green are not the next Chauncey and Joe Johnson.

I do think that Rondo is a very capable starting point guard in the mold of TJ Ford, and that Gerald is going to be an excellent scorer off the bench for 20-25 mpg, but let's not go comparing the current guys to all-stars.

Al Jefferson on the other hand...

Just got back from the game tonight. Is there any reason at all to believe this team might actually be good sometime in the next 5 years or so?

They are really blowing the draft lottery right now but damn, the kids, especially Jefferson are sure coming along.
The last few games have been fun to watch.

Few random Celtics notes:

1. Delonte hates passing to Gerald. He realizes that Rajon is the point guard of the future, and that Gerald is the future 2, and that he is destined to back-up combo guard, but wants to slow that process.

2. Rondo gets a lot of steals per minute, but beyond that forces tons of turnovers that he doesn't get credit for in the stat sheet, and saves a ridiculous amount of balls from going out of bounds. The amount of extra possessions he gives us on both side of the ball. Is anyone else not suprised he has the only postitive +/- on the Celtics??

3. Complain all you want about Gerald's lack of consistency, but he's getting almost 10 points per game in under 20 minutes per game, and is getting a lot better at drawing fouls.

4. Big Al recently defended Perk, saying that the things he does do not show up in the boxscore. Perk did a lot of the shutting down of Eddy Curry the other night, and does the boxing out so other guys can get rebounds. Big Al does better as the starting power forward than as a starting center (on both sides of the ball, and rebounding). Now imagine replacing Perk with Oden!!

5. We will make the playoffs next year no doubt.

We will because of the system, but we won't really be title contenders, so whats the point? (Maybe this belongs in the NBA playoff rant thread)

I think if Pierce is still around in 2-3 years then we can start doing some serious things in the league.

Could they beat the spurs? Up by 2 with less than a minute.
