They gave me a little hassle, but not much...said they would deposit 100 in 1 day, 4900 by 2/8 and the last 5000 by 2/12...kind of a joke

My Stars check came by Fed Ex a few hours ago. No problems at the bank whatsoever. I got the money all in cash and I'm making it my new live bankroll.

Deposited today as well. It's drawn on US Bank, don't see that there should be a problem.

I had one clear less than a week ago no problems

if you have any suspicion that your bank would hassle you if you walk up with a weird looking check in person, just deposit it in an ATM. i've heard of no one who has gotten refused this way.

Thats not a hassle, just standard operating procedure for depositing a non-payroll/government check.

I can't imagine a bank teller (mostly 20-30 women in my town) being on the look-out for online poker site checks. As many checks as they see a day, I wouldn't think a poker room check would stand out at all. I'd be very surprised if more than 10% of all bank tellers have even heard of the UIGEA.

No offense to bank tellers either. I just don't think this is something that most of them keep up with or are even informed about.

Speaking of that....I've got a buddy that plays at my home game who is still in college and working as a teller at one of the larger banks here in town. He plays/played online poker and until I told him, he knew nothing about the UIGEA. To this day, no one at his bank has mentioned a thing about it to him, nor about rejecting online poker room checks.

i went to a bank in wisconsin one time so i could change some canadian money into us money. the tellers looked shocked at the site of "different" money. after 4 or 5 people looked at the money, asked me where it was from (!!), they told me that i would need to go to the main branch to change it. i have never met such moronic people in all the banks in different countries i have been to. my point is nothing would suprise me in american banks.

I got another check from another site that was the most ghettos looking thing ever issued by Chexx.
It was actually pretty annoying to deposit, I'm looking at the bank tellers and they are all a bunch of hot chicks in mid 20's then all of a sudden I hear this scratchy stern voice I can help you over here sir. There is this old librarian looking woman way in the corner I hadn’t noticed and she looks at the check and gives me this evil eye. She say "this is going to have a hold" in some mean voice. I was like yeah no problem (all friendly) all out of state checks have hold don’t they? She said yes that is often the case.
So I said: Yeah I think this one might even be from Canada so thought maybe it would be held longer or something. I sold a website and this is the first check from the Escrow company. She was like ohhh. Then got all nice to me:
Was not real worried the whole time but I just opened a bank account with them because BofA returned a totally different check to me and warned me they were watching me. So this is my second account. I just was more concerned wth being friendly to her just because this is a bank I may perhaps use long term if not problems.
It took forever at the bank though. She printed off some form on bank policies which I had to sign. The form was all standard stuff basically just covering the hold periods for out of state checks and warning they would not cover overdraft fees which were a result of checks not clearing blah blah. She said I won’t have to go through the process with future check once my account is established.

Quick trip report:

I requested a check from stars late tuesday night this week. Yesterday morning at around 10 AM the fed ex guy showed up with my check. Pretty quick, I was pleased. An hour later I went to my bank (Bank of America) and deposited the check with no problem. This morning I checked my account and the funds are already available. So I'm very pleased... the check came very quickly and cleared in a day.
