Over Halloween I had cherry vodka and sprite zero... sort of a rookie drinker's drink, but very good.

[/ QUOTE ]
Vodka and sprite zero rules. Great summer drink. Get a nice big cup about half full of ice, toss in half of a lemmon or lime, finish with vodka and sprite zero. Very refreshing.

Anyone else like a simple Tom Collins? Or is it too sweet for most?

Dumb question - what is "rye"?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's just whisky made from the grain rye (or mostly from rye) rather than, say, corn.

Here's one that's really good.

A plain Jane Gin and Tonic is the perfect summer drink, but there is a variation that makes it much better. This may sound odd, but a Gin and Tonic with a wedge of cucumber is a goddamned miracle. Seriously.

Any whiskey or bourbon with a small splash of Gingerale or Coke is really good too, largely because of the added carbonation, not so much the dilution.

Hendrick's got me started with the cucumber. It's surprisingly very good.

Baileys on the rocks.

yeah, you don't need anything else. put it in coffee if you insist on getting fancy.

The first one I thought of was Captain & Seven. Guy at the 2-5 no-limit table at Caesar's Palace turned me on to it last summer. Said it tasted just like cream soda, and he was right.

None of my favorite top-shelf drinks are particularly simple-- margaritas and mojitos (when I can find a good one) are probably my two staples.

Black Russians still can't be beat - vodka + kahlua 2:1
Bellinis are much loved by girls - champagne and Peach schnapps 3:1
Daquiri - Rum, lemon juice 3:1, sugar
Stinger - Brandy, white creme de menthe 7:1, pour into tumbler with ice and stir.

[/ QUOTE ]

the russian is my other drink.

if you are in a weird mood and its the middle of the day

green tea and tequila probably 3-1 its an interesting drink warm.
when drinking with girls always go with the daqs. but be careful not to look like an alchy since you can slam them down so fast.
