At some point in time, I would like to do a semi-long trip report of a benefit hike I did a few years ago. I've been meaning to write it up forever but don't really feel that much of a link with OOT.
Link to Backpacker Article [ QUOTE ] Hike for Diabetes Four million, seven hundred thousand. That's how many steps it will take Rob Cole, Corey Lindsay, and Russell Benefield to complete the Pacific Crest Trail. If that number seems high, this number will shock you: 16 million. That is the number of people with diabetes in the United States alone-more than three people for every step. On April 22, 2001, the three University of Washington students left Campo, Mexico, to hike 2,653 miles to Manning Park, British Columbia. Along the way, they're raising awareness about the disease and money for the American Diabetes Association. They want to show the public that "there is the possibility of having a 'normal' life after becoming diabetic," says Cole, a type-one, insulin-dependent diabetic himself. [/ QUOTE ] Obviously this is contingent upon interest in hearing about my experiences, both with the process of working with a nonprofit and dealing with corporate sponsors, etc., for a cause. Given that there are lots of 20-somethings who have expressed interest in traveling, exploring -- in general getting away from everyday life and trying something out of the ordinary -- I thought there might be some interest in it. Still not sure if it's a great fit for this forum, but I think it'll do better here than in a high-traffic forum like OOT. Rob |

ooh. my dress absolutely needs some updating as i feel like i'm slightly outgrowing the skaterish frat boy look (22 years old currently), but have zero desire to fall into a trap of metrosexualness. i would very much like to see this thread take place.

El Diablo,
I think this forum should be great. Can you make QR a mandatory and not an option? Can we resurrect the El Diablo method of address? The threads like that at the birth of QR were some of the most enjoyable ever for some strange reason. And I'd just like to 'second' edtost as a thread starter. He's under-appreciated and quality. Best wishes, TWP |

El D,
This has potential to be the best forum on 2+2. I would suggest that any relationship/advice thread/discussion MUST include pictures from the OP. If someone feels the need to seek advice from such an elite group of individuals, they should have to supplement such posts with pictures to make the advice and quality of this forum, that much higher. |

El D, I've been toying for a while with starting a thread that could be a comprehensive guide for men's fashion, specifically fashion for "going out." What to wear in general, specific items, etc. I don't think the Lounge would have quite the right user base (at this point), and I don't think OOT will be right, either. This forum, however, seems like just the spot. [/ QUOTE ] I'm definitely interested in this as I seem to be overdressed anytime I go out anymore. However, it is Pittsburgh, so if I don't have a mullet, 80's hair band t-shirt and ripped jeans on, I'm overdressed. |

Oh yeah, anyone who wants to suggest posters who you think would be good additions to the thread starter list, this is the place to do that too. [/ QUOTE ] I see RayZee made your list but where is Mason? He does not make many non poker posts but when he does they are great. I assume all the reds are on the list you just didn't list them at first. Also you need to put katyseagull on the list she might not like it at first but she starts cool threads. Good luck with this I am happy you stepped up and became a mod finally. I don't like starting threads and think I will enjoy not being able to so please don't add me to the list. I will just chime in when I see topics I like. |

I am 6'4, ~300 lbs, and have a hard time dressing like a grown up when the situation calls for it. |
