Before I paste my opener, I should mention that I'm kind of looking for a relationship rather than a random hookup. Also, as you can probably guess from my profile , music is very important to me.

So I found this 19 yo girl that lives close to me, is really really hot, and likes similar music, and I sent this message:


Subject: Hi
Body: So, yea, I was just browsing through random myspace profiles, and apparently 99% of the people that live near me are porn stars and all around whores, and your profile was a nice change of pace. The music selection is awesome.

Anyway, I'm kind of new to LA. I guess I've been here for 6 months, but I've spent half of that out of the country, so it doesn't feel like I've been here that long, and I'm just looking to meet some new people.

Anyway, take a look at my profile, and let me know if you don't think I suck.

After sending this, I immediately regretted the "let me know if you don't think I suck" part. It lacks confidence. Something like "if you think im cool" would have been much better.

Thoughts/comments on my approach / profile?

Edit: Forgot to mention the out of the country part was mostly mentioned because she said "She wants to go to Europe
" somewhere in her profile in some list of "she xxxxxx" lines.

prop bet? We set it up so someone is only allowed to send out 3 lines of which have to be to the effect of 'you're hot' to 60 chics and i bet it beats the success rate of 'inside?'. Since you said it would get zero you should give me about 5:1 on more than > 2%?

Maybe I should have been more clear. We're using the "inside?" to start something. This is what I mean by not having any success saying "You're hot". The most you might get back is a thanks, unless you're sending this to butt-ugly chicks who never get complements.

i would have just left off the last line entirely. you don't need to prompt her to check out your profile or to reply to you, and doing so at all just makes you seem needy. next time stop at '...meet some new people', she'll get it.

my own question,

what is everyone using in there 'who i'd like to meet section'? i kinda hate 95% of my friends so i'm looking to make friends more than hookup through this, but i think it's a pretty bad idea to come out and say that in my profile. i've got this right now:

people never get tired of compliments. simply 'you're hot' would have bad sucess. something like 'you have really great x. how are you?' x being a main feature of that person, would easily beat 'inside?'

Really, though, I bet you could just put a period instead of a comma after profile and delete the rest.

The hope was that she would check out my profile (this part seems to be a 99% lock regardless of how ugly I am / what opener I use), and will see my long list of bands and enthusiasm for concerts and she'll message me back wanting to talk about how common our tastes are.
