[ QUOTE ]
Manning gets a lot of that hate because his fans proclaim him as the best when he hasn't won anything despite having a great supporting cast throughout his pro and college career(not sure about HS). I personally don't mind him at all, but I can see why some people wouldn't like him. He(and his bro fwiw) can come across as the spoiled rich white kids that grew up getting whatever they want, but they're not really tough and choke in big spots- I'M NOT AT ALL SAYING THIS IS TRUE, just explaining where some of the hate may come from. [/ QUOTE ] I like the caps, you've been attacked here one too many times and are getting, understandably, a little gunshy. As for the meat, sorry but football is a team game, people have discussed at length the Manning v. Brady issue and I'll give you a quick summery: Manning Fans: His numbers put him as the best QB of all time. Sometimes his losses aren't his fault and there are 21 other guys that didn't play well enough to win. Brady fans: RIIIIIIIIINGS!!! lalalalala I CAN'T HERE YOU. I mean some people will never get that and that's fine, but anyone that watches football has certainly seen some of the other players on the field. Manning get's hyped because of his skills, he's the smartest player on the field and, and I'll be a bit of a fanboy here, he's alot of fun to watch. Yeah, in these playoffs (to speak only of this year) he's had a tough go, but so has Brady, although not as much. Teams realize that they are great QBs will tear them apart if they don't drop more me back, and drop further. People think "Catch=good QB, No catch=Bad QB" but anyone competent football fan knows alot goes into even one play and one has to expand the criteria for judgement. [ QUOTE ] A Colts fan complaining about the officiating is the ultimate irony imo. Many calls went against Baltimore, including by far the biggest call of the game, which if it was called correctly may have meant a BAltimore win. [/ QUOTE ] Colts fan? Que? I spend most of my time talking about Manning and the Colts because they get talked about the most. Cause and effect. I also defend Brady when people say he's "the product of his system" and other wrongitudes. As for the call. Yep they blew the whistle way too early on that Pick. Sucks, but let's not pretend that they are the first or last team to get screwed, hell the Colts will probably get screwed there next week (I mean they won't because the NFL pays refs not to flag the Colts, but in a just world they would ). That non-flag concerning Wayne could've kept the Colts from stalling and getting a FG. Cody |

The Colts already beat down NE @ their place in prime time. Their D has played much better at home then on the road, so Maroney/Dillon will not be showing them anymore than the 140 yards they had in the first meeting. SD, well that is another beast.

I have argued the Brady/Manning debate much better than simply saying "Rings!!!" in the past. I don't care to rehash the whole thing, but in short I looked at their surrounding casts and then compared the winning percentage. I will agree with you that football is a team game and not an individual game. Manning would have an excuse for not having a ring if he didn't have good surrounding talent. I'll agree with you on that point. However, I think Manning has had very good surrounding talent.

[/ QUOTE ] While watching the first NE/IND game I thought it was clear that they were throwing too much, and I suspect Belichick will make appropriate adjustments if he can continue to run at will as he did in the first meeting. The Patriots team that played then was 6-1, but this one is playing much better, finishing the season the same 6-1. Indy will barely be a favorite if the Patriots win Sunday despite how well they play at home. |

Sure they can beat SD, but that doesn't say anything about whether or not they will. And I think SD's the better team, but it's close. |

[ QUOTE ]
They were horrible this year due to injuries. They are playing better in the playoffs now that they're healthy. It seems as if you're agreeing with me that they were either average or above average the past few years...thats all I was ever saying. I wasn't saying they were great, just that they weren't horrible. [/ QUOTE ] Including this year, Manning's been to the playoffs seven times. Again including this year, his defense has been terrible five of those seven years. It's not a 'myth created by Manning supporters' that he's had terrible defenses -- it's a fact. EDIT: Ok, in fairness not all of those five years were "terrible" for the defense. A couple of them were merely bad. |

Seriously, Bob Sanders is not the savior of this defense.
Sanders played in 4 games before the playoffs: vs New York Giants. 28 rushes for 186 yards. vs. Houston Texans (round 1): 23 rushes for 107 yards vs. New England: 33 rushes for 148 yards vs. Tennessee (round 2): 35 rushes for 219 yards. He has 8 total tackles in the post season. |

[/ QUOTE ] Despite having statistically awful regular season defenses, they haven't exactly cost the team games in the playoffs. Points allowed by Colts defense in Postseason: 6 - 2006 Ravens (#12 in NFL) 8 - 2006 Chiefs (#15 in NFL) 21 - 2005 Steelers (#9 in NFL) 20 - 2004 Patriots (#4 in NFL) 24 - 2004 Broncos (#9 in NFL) 24 - 2003 Patriots (#12 in NFL) 31 - 2003 Chiefs (#1 in NFL) 10 - 2003 Broncos (#10 in NFL) 41 - 2002 Jets (#15 in NFL) 23 - 2000 Dolphins (#16 in NFL) 19 - 1999 Titans (#7 in NFL) Aside from 2002, it's hard for me to put much blame on the Colts defense for not winning the Super Bowl. |
