It tells us how good Peyton Manning is. [/quote

I interpreted it was that "fixing" of my post was supposed to belittle the Colts into a lesser team than I was describing them -- meaning they aren't much, if at all, superior to the Chiefs, and I was therefore understating the Chiefs' chances.

Otherwise I don't know how it makes much sense, seeing as I've already acknowledged Peyton being the best player in NFL history.

I am really sorry about any disrepect - none intended. I am a Colts fan stuck in Pittsburgh and have had to hear about "choker manning" since about this time last year.

I fear the Colts losing the game tomorrow because the run D gives up another 375 and it will start again. Even if the pundits acknowledge that it wasn't the fault of Peyton immediatley after the game, about this time next year, they will cite the 3-7 career playoff record and the pathetic D wll be forgotten and the drums will begin to beat again (kind of like the Lamar Smith debacle in 2000).

I am preparing for the inevitable either this week or next week and the defense mechanisms are lifting. I am really sorry if it was taken the wrong way.

TE's - Clark - above average but not to be confused with Tony G, Gates, etc., Utech, Fletcher - average.

[/ QUOTE ]

Clark is in the same range as Gonzo and Gates. The biggest difference is that he is on a team with good WRs. If Clark was on a team without 2 probowl WRs his numbers would go way up.

Jeremy Shockey
Alge Crumpler
Antonio Gates
Tony Gonzalez

Besides going to the probowl this year, what do they all have in common? They all play for teams with poor to average WRs.

The fact that they are good makes WRs less of a priority... It's also a fair bit of coincidence. What about Witten? Stevens last year?

Looking at DPAR, Clark, Fletcher, and Utecht are all almosti dentical. In DVOA, Fletcher ranks 3rd, Utecht 11th, and Clark 17th. Clark had one good year. Otherwise he gets hurt all the time. Alllll the time.

Holy drunken Hyperbole batman! Noodlman was posting on the sauce last night!

Putting Dallas Clark in the same range as Gonzo and Gates is a stretch but I stand by the part about the big name TEs playing on teams with shoddy WRs.

Also, lets get some more love for Bryan Fletcher. That guy is awesome and doesn't get the ball near enough.

Getting this thread back on the real topic:

Last week the Colts started doing something different with their WRs. The standard set has has always been Marv split right, Wayne left and either Stokley or Clark in the slot.
Last week the Colts ran a lot of 3 WR sets with Moorehead wide left and Wayne in the slot. This was creating all kinds of interesting matchups for Wayne, particularly when he lined up slot right and forced the safety to choose to help on either him or Marv.

Just something interesting to watch for.

It won't matter where they line up Wayne, because KC sucks vs #2 WRs and #3 WRs. Patrick Surtain will line up on whoever, and then Peyton Manning will ignore him. he might actually (never thought I'd say this) pick on Ty Law.

I'd like to see more Kick Returners look at the rules, like Wes Walker does.

If Hall had stepped out of bounds and grabbed the ball it would have been a penalty and the Chiefs would have the ball at the 40.
