Shaniac it really depends upon what your definition of rolled is. But the HU games at those levels

i) You are not often going to have a big edge
ii) The play is super aggro thus high variance

As you can see, 130BB can go in less than an hour, so I wouldnt feel comfortable playing with 300bb. TLK went on a > 500bb downswing I think. I'd want 1000bb before feeling remotely comfortable.

Right, but those requirements essentially go out the window when "taking a shot" like Mark was, right?

It was a little depresseing because Mark was so close to sealing the deal, but I think, taken in perspective, this isn't like the worst loss ever, just a little brutal. I'm not even sure what the final -tally was...60-80k?

I would say that if you can win and then lose the equivalent of a quarter of your bankroll in an hour you're playing over your head.

nit.

In principle you can play as high stakes you want with the money you have above the bankroll necessary for the limits you normally play without much risk for busto.

Well when you are 'taking a shot' then 'being rolled' is by definition irrelevant.

I would take someone on HU with as little as 200bb, and maybe less, if they were terrible.

yeah, so that sucked, but i only lost like somewhere around 60-80k or so, started the 1/2 with 116, im going to get some more money on there and play him again some time, funny thing is when i had him down to like 20k, neverwin im'd me and said i should quit him cuz thats all i can win, but he can win a lot more, then when he went on his sick rush, i def wasnt playing my best, but whatever, kinda in a frenzy now, going to try to get some sleep, id post a graph, but for some reason my pokertracker isnt working, just got back from la, havent used this computer in like months, so not sure what the problem is

and to all of you speculating about my bankroll, this didnt hurt that bad, and it was a good spot, especially when we first moved up, but he played his rush pretty well

I'm trying to play normal 6-max now after watching that match, and my hand-reading skills are totally fried. I'm like "wait a minute, people still do fold on the flop right?"

It might be sound advice psychologically though.

I was thinking the same thing. Also, Mark saying that he is down 60-80K seems like an arbitrary measurement; He was up alot at one point, right?
