Hey all,
A friend and I are driving up to WA to go gambling and skiing for the next few days. I looked up the old threads and it appears that Tulalip and Muckleshoot are the best places. We're hoping to play in the 20/40 - 50/100 LHE range. Maybe some 5/10 NL if its available and we're feeling up for it. Can anybody tell me what's the latest at these cardrooms? Can you compare the games to Bellagio, Commerce, Bay101, or some other big casino please? Any dinner, NYE, or motel recommendations? Also comments on whether Crystal Mountain or Snoqualmie is better for skiing would be appreciated. We're both in our mid-20s and pretty undemanding for the most part. I tried calling the board at the Muck, but you'd be shocked by how worthless some of the information you get over the phone is. Thanks in advance! |

Others can speak more authoritatively, but I've been to the Muck a few times. They have a continuous 10-20 game going, usually 2+ tables, and usually a 20-40 as well. Often 30-60. I haven't seen anything higher than that on a regular basis. I haven't played the 20-40, but I can tell you the 10-20 is a pretty profitable game, especially on weekends.
The Muck also apreads a 5-500 spread-limit game (by letter of the WA state gaming regs, true NLHE not permitted, but the 5-500 spread is close enough. I think it has 5-10 blinds.) I haven't played in that game, but friends tell me it's pretty juicy. I would say the Muck 10-20 is just a hair tougher than say, the Bellagio or Wynn 8-16...probably comparable to the Bellagio 15-30. Finally, at lower limits, Muckleshoot's 3-6 and 4-8 LHE games are among the softest I've seen anywhere. Can't speak to Tulalip from experience; haven't been there. My understanding, however, is that they also have comparable mid-limit games and spread-limit similar to the Muck. I also think Tulalip is a little larger (Muckleshoot has about 20 tables or so, typically 4-5 of which are 10-20 & higher, the rest are 3-6 and 4-8). The true Muck expert would be bernie...hopefully he'll come along and post before you leave on your trip, and correct any errors I've typed. |

The 4/8 game is so soft I call this place Muckleshootthefishinthebarrel Casino. I usually go on Fridays with the intent to start out at 4/8 and then switching to 10/20 when those tables are likely to be alcohol-lubed. I have never switched because each 4/8 table has 3 or more players that are absolutely terrible and just give it away. I can be a high-variance game, but WAY +EV for a TAG.
A dealer told me I should try the spread-limit game because "they don't pay attention there either". She noticed that I watched what was going on at the table, which must be very rare at 4/8. Since she didn't mention 10/20, I have to conclude the spread-limit game probably is more +EV than the 10/20. I have seen folks start-out in the spread game then move to 10/20. Muckleshoot opened there expanded room the evening of December 22. They now have 30-40 tables available (someone will post the exact number shortly). |

Do they spread 500/1000 and above?

Do they spread 500/1000 and above? [/ QUOTE ] Um, no. I haven't been in a while, but their expansion was scheduled to be open by now (30 tables; new tables, chairs (thank God), and other improvements. The fact that my girlfriend wants to learn poker notwithstanding, a cardroom is the last place I'd want to spend NYE. (She skis at Stevens, so I have no ability to help you with that choice.) |

10-20 is always good. As is 4-8. Both play kind of passive.
20-40 can be good. Goes pretty regular. 50-100 goes on Tues and Thurs. Sometimes during other days. It can be a sweet game. Sometimes they will spread higher up to 200-400, but that's kinda rare. Though sometimes the 50 game will have overs playing as does the 20-40 sometimes. Spread is 5-500 with 5-10 blinds. Usually at least one a day. Many donators from 20-40 tend to play it lately. along with other donators and many players I've never played with or really seen until they started spreading it. [/ QUOTE ] From what I've seen (limited) and heard(alot) was mid limits up there almost don't exist. It's the place to play spread if you want. Many at mucks say 'if you want spread, go to tulalip'. Usually the only limit I've seen up there is 4-8. Mucks is bigger. They've added about 13 more tables.(31 total) However they're supposed to be shutting down the old part of the room to renovate it while playing in the new room. Not sure how that'll work, but basically they may only be playing with 13 tables for a couple weeks. Seen the new addition and it's pretty cool. Nice chairs(not hard to beat the old ones). I kinda like the older tables better, but who knows. Lil's is cool, but they usually only have 1 table of 12-24 or 8-16 so the lists can be a bit long. Great games though, lots of action. Not sure how it compares to other rooms in other states. Probably not near as wild as Commerce, from what I've heard. b |

Thanks for the info, Bernie. Can you recommend any places to eat around? Also, is it true that they run 30/60?

They run 30-60, but usually it's 20-40. Both games running usually kills one of the games. Many play 20-40 with 30-60 overs. As far as restaurants, depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend. If you're near the muck, you may as well eat there at Kookaburras. Service kinda sucks but the food is good. Smoking is allowed there. Lil's has good food. Though last time or 2 I was there service kinda lacked also. It used to have decent service. Others are better versed about the restaurants than me. Kent Station(Sounder Train stop) is a nice lil' place to find something to eat. A bit spendy than average, but pretty good. b |

[/ QUOTE ] From what I have heard, the new tables are rentals, and they will have the permanent ones at some later date. They are really screwed up- the shuffler is on the wrong side (and lengthwise), and the jackpot drop slot is smack in the middle of the 1 seat's area. It is chilly as hell in the new section (less people + near doorway). Service is spotty there too, but seems to be getting better. New chairs are comfy, but not as nice as Venetian/Bellagio. |

I'm curious as to the electronics they said they were putting in where they can push a button and call for an open seat, service or chips. Supposed to have an electric/computer board for games too like the ones in Vegas. [ QUOTE ] It is chilly as hell in the new section (less people + near doorway). [/ QUOTE ] Ever sit on table 7? Right in the middle of the old room? Coldest table in the house. Especially seat 6. We call it the old meatlocker of Mucks. Notice most regulars wear heavy clothes on that table. They really should do something about the temp-control overall in there. [ QUOTE ] Service is spotty there too, but seems to be getting better. [/ QUOTE ] Depends who's on shift, but yeah, it can suck. b |
