Memphis coach Mike Fratello fired! I don't really watch the Grizzlies, but I don't see what he was supposed to do w/ them trading Battier for a young Gay & Pau being injured. [/ QUOTE ] my feeling is that he was (understandably) not very enthused about this team. May have been going through the motions just a little too much for their liking. Throwing his hands up at the situation and just putting the players on the floor. I haven't followed the team as closely this year so I'm not positive about this. But the way they've started some of their games is a clue I think. frequently looking like they just weren't ready to play...and getting even worse from there including falling behind 45-18 in the 1st Q the other night. |

Coach's T = Success? I found this an interesting read. Thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] I like this study. It would be nice to control for difficulty of opposition. If I wanted to argue that the study was wrong, the first thing I could think of would be to say that a T tends to happen when a coach feels his team is underperforming, which is most likely to happen when his team is playing an inferior one and not dominating. Simple regression to the mean and substitution patterns (opponents are on a run and tired) would then give the same results. |

Damn all you Raptor hators. They actually have a bunch of servicable/talented players aside from Bosh/Ford. If anything, they have too many of them.
What do you guys think of Iverson with the Nuggets? WIth the amount of shots taken and points obtained by Iverson/'Melo/Smith, I don't see how this can really work out? |

Suns Mavs is gonna be soooooooo sick tonight.
Especially, after watching the Celtics look like a college team w/o Paul Pierce. |

Phoenix 18-2, Dallas 20-3 since these two teams met last. Sick.

Eric, I've said from the day the trade happened that AI would have no problem deferring to the #2 role. He is experienced and wants to win. And I don't think that Melo will have a problem with shooting a bit less either, as he seems to have matured a lot and understands the opportunity they have. The key to the whole thing imo is Smith. He has come across as a bit immature and young to me, and I'm not certain if he will be able to handle his now reduced role. If he can, then this team is a championship contender. I would love to see a Denver/Phoenix WCF.

tuq (or any other suns fan),
Does D'antoni whine as much all the time as he does during the times I watch him? He constantly has a petulant look on his face, especially for a team that has been among the league leaders in fewest fouls against since he took over. |

D'Antoni has these shiny teeth that sometimes make him look like he's smiling, but he's usually cussing out the ref. It's great.

i dont think he whines more than average to be honest, but most coaches whine a good amount. They have the fewest fouls against because they dont want to foul because it slows the game down.
