Good catch RE: the team DVOA. It also includes any runs by WRs, FBs and other HBs. My point was just that the difference between Gore's runs his teams runs was more impressive then Westbrook's, but it is important that both teams have QBs who run a non-trivial amount (which I forgot).

Why is a receiving threat such a big deal?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because Westbrook has 74 catches for 664 yards and 4 TDs. That's a big deal!

[ QUOTE ]
Leaving off the leading rusher in the NFC and the leading YPC guy in the NFC would be a travesty.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well I think leaving off the leading running back in DPAR in the NFC would be a bigger travesty. Why? Because I think DPAR is a better statistic than total yards or even yards per carry.

McNabb and Romo are about even in DPAR. McNabb is 3rd and Romo is 4th among NFC QBs. But Romo is a more logical selection (imo) since that McNabb won't be playing football for the next year or so. Even if you put in McNabb, Romo would be the alternate and end up being a Pro Bowler anyway. Romo is very deserving (imo).

And for the love of god, Vick? He's 9th among NFC QBs, barely ahead of Jeff Garcia who's racked up nearly as much value as Vick in 4.5 games.

[/ QUOTE ]

if you think vick's value can be calculated using QB rating, youre insane

Brady's numbers aren't that outstanding this year, neither are Rivers.

Rivers: 62.8% completion, 18 tds, 8 ints, 91.5 rating.

Brady: 60.9% completion, 22 tds, 12 ints, 86.1 rating.

His rating is actually below Losman's.

[/ QUOTE ]

one small difference, brady's throwing a cast of jokes and rivers has tomlinson and Gates....

Has Gates been especially good this year? He's been good in comparison to most QBs but this has been a down year for him. The rest of their WRs aren't any thing to brag about. LT is a great play out of the backfield.

I'm not a huge fan of Rivers making the PB although this hasn't been Brady's best year. Your reason is just though. His WRs are pretty awful.

Eric Parker is pretty damn good.

Keenan McCardell is good.

Since we were discussing Marion Barber before, I think this article is appropriate.

[ QUOTE ]
The Dallas Cowboys’ two running backs, Marion Barber and Julius Jones, couldn’t have been more different in Saturday night’s 38-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Barber carried the ball 11 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns; Jones carried 13 times for 26 yards and no scores. Barber picked up a first down rushing six times; Jones did it once. Barber’s median run went eight yards; Jones’ median run went two yards.

THREAD HIGHLIGHTS

The only one you showed was that Westbrook is a more effective receiver, which I could say is useless because that is a result of offensive scheme.

As for % of total offense, it's a useless stat.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because it favors featured players in bad offenses and has little correlation with a player's contribution to winning football games.

[/ QUOTE ]

Since when is the Pro Bowl about teams winning football games? If that's the case why are Driver, Boldin, Bulger, etc. on the team?

[/ QUOTE ]

anyone that played over 8 games, hahaha...but umm, in honesty, id put vick or even mcnabb (who, despite being hurt, has played in MORE GAMES THAN ROMO)

Who said the pro bowl is about who is more valuable?

[ QUOTE ]
Westbrook leads all NFC running backs in DPAR.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually he doesn't. Per this link: DPAR (note: per that link, actually he does)

Why is a receiving threat such a big deal? He's supposed to be a RB position on the pro bowl.

well passing statistics in general shouldnt be used as the almighty when discussing vick's value....also, romo's played 8 freaking games, lol, how can he possibly go to the pro bowl? it makes no sense...if youre gonna put a guy in that hasnt played a full schedule, it better be mcnabb
