[ QUOTE ]
Fedor Emelianenko would defeat anyone you put in front of him, and most likely anyone who has ever walked the face of the earth. [/ QUOTE ] Come on. Achilles beats his ass. |

[ QUOTE ] Would you laugh if I had said 'what about the guys like Jean Claude Van Dam' in Kickboxer? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. Your knowledge of real fighting is miniscule. [/ QUOTE ] Why must you take things out of context? I was not claiming he was a badass in that movie or that kickboxers are! I was responding with an example to a specific comparison, geez. Hold your horses or atleast quote my entire paragraph so my point isn't misunderstood by any others.. |

[ QUOTE ]
i should also mention for any of you martial arts guys that a journeyman boxer or mmaer would absolutely SCHOOL bruce lee in any sort of real fight. like top 100 in either, 135lbs. just school. just thought i'd get that in there. bruce lee= great theorist. [/ QUOTE ] That is a really ignorant statement. Bruce Lee was a fantastic martial artist, one of the very best (and likely the very best) in the world at the time, plus he came from a streetfighting background. He was in great condition as well. The worldwide karate, kung-fu or martial arts association (sorry I forget the exact name) awarded him a tenth degree honorary black belt. He invented the first really effective mixed martial art, and was faster than hell. To unequivocally state that a journeyman boxer or journeyman MMAer could school him in a real fight is laughable. He came from a real fighting background and was tough as nails and just rose higher and higher until his life suddenly and tragically ended. |

LOL at anybody who says the SEAL, as if they magically going to go into a fight and kill an elite world fighter because they saw it in a movie once. Jesus christ, how much hand to hand combat do you think the SEAL does? (in relation to the other choices), very little, is the correct answer. Feel free to continue believing that they could just run up to somebody and rip their throat out or whatever, lol.

I'm surprised nobody has came up with a Poker analogy yet.
Let's see. In a heads-up No Limit Hold'em freezeout match with deep stacks, who would be the favourite? The best poker-playing actor (he can fake tells!) The best poker-playing psychologist (he's inside your head!) The best poker-playing mathematician (he knows the odds!) The best poker-playing chess player (he's highly trained in another game!) Phil Ivey ? Now, tell me how the MMA expert doesn't crush everyone else ? |

Strikes are out. If someone bigger than you wants to get close, there's no way a kick or punch will stop him. The best possible strategy is for the bigger/faster guy is to get close enough to apply a key grab that will immobilize the other. I would go with the UF champion or possibly (but less likely) navy seal, but the others don't stand a chance.
Finally the karate expert would easily beat the boxer (unless it was a kickboxing expert) and completely own the street figher, the boxer would beat the street fighter with ease also. |

Obviously Phil Ivey. If you take him out:
The matematician. Assuming none of the others knows much about odds and game theory, etc. Then the chess player (he understands strategic concepts enough to be able to think about them and draw correct conclusions, but the time allowed isn't enough for him to be able to beat the matematician), then the psychologist (he may be able to get a read on some of the others, but not a good enough read to make up for his lack of skill), and obviously last the actor (he can fake tells but it's of no use when you just don't know how to play). In any case, it depends mostly on how much do these people know about poker theory and how much they know about the game. Also, how much experience they have playing. (btw, what does MMA stand for?) |

Soon2bePro, I agree with your rankings, but I was just making a point. You can't beat a wide expert who trains for hours every day with just a partial knowledge of what you're getting into.
