Anyone ever heard of the Bilderberg group ? If not google them and research them ... good luck to any person outside of that group ever being elected president again as long as Bush Sr and his evil friends are at the top of this country.

No one is expecting a 3rd party candidate to get elected pres. anytime soon. That's not the point.

presidents are chosen not elected, chosen by an elite few before the election even takes place. People want to believe we have a democracy and that democrats/reps are different, let them be naive.

Someone who knows how the real world is working .. good answer just the one I was hoping for ... I think it's funny how they only have 2 main political parties for a country with 300 million people. Yeah those 2 parties sure reflect the views of that many people ... HAH.

wow... Raymer are you not concerned about the possible image problem associated stemming from youre poker play?

While I can defiently understand that you may be more then qualified there is a stigma about your claim to fame.

Similiar thing has been said about women and mostly any non-career polictican in office.

I could easily see you having a large disadvantage on the main idea that youre a poker player for a living.

What if I said I was exactly as smart as Raymer and though exactly the same etc (Im not and I dont) and I wanted to run?

Would I stand any chance in hell?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I seriously think Raymer's poker background could cost the Libertarian Party the presidency. They're likely to come up just short now.

In the meanwhile, there are countries of 10-million people or so that might have 20 political parties, many of which have a legit shot to win that nation's presidency and/or certainly seats in their legislature.

Greg - you're thoughts on what I believe Nader referred to as the "dual-party duopoloy" and it's ineffectiveness of the past several years is exactly why I have voted for 3rd party candidates as frequently as I have.

I read on some blog (although haven't looked around to confirm it) that 25% of registered voters have not listed an affiliation with one party or another which is the highest in over a century.

I believe that many of these people do have the potential to break-away from the mind-set that somehow not voting for a major party is 'wasting your vote' (as I have been told several times before) and that Americans should very strongly consider simply voting for the person who they think would do the very best job.

The initial strangeness and novelty of a champion poker-player running for office may help you break some of those barriers of media-exposure that plague 3rd party candidates.
And once you actually get a chance to be heard, people who rught now have no idea who you are may find themselves nodding in agreement with your political ideas.

Where may I sign-up for your newsletter and assist with your campaign?!?!
