For the 50 year old dad...
He's guaranteed to like at least one sport, and therefore has at least one team that's 'his'. Jerseys, hats, signed baseballs, trivia books, etc are all winners. If he's into golf then it's really easy. You can almost always find a box of golf balls that he likes, possibly with some cool logo (like his alma mater) on them, or a voucher for a round at a nice course, etc etc. For the gf... Jewelry always wins. Take a female friend to the store and have her point out some stuff in the $50-$150 (or whatever) range. Earrings are usually winners since you'd be hard pressed to find a pair that she'll hate so much that she won't be able to wear with anything, especially if it passes another girl's inspection first. And always include some kind of nice card -- girls are total suckers for little additions like cards, bows, and nice wrapping paper. For the brother/sister/uncle/etc.... A good fallback plan for any family member / stocking stuffer is a comic strip day-to-day calendar. It's not a 'nice' gift by any stretch but they're fun and everyone likes at least one comic or another. Add a sudoku or other puzzle book and you have a decent gift that anyone will like. Another thing to think about is the kinds of things that you like to get as presents. Generally if you think something is really cool (other than clothes), one of your friends or family members would like it as a gift. |

Fluorescent, I freakin LOVE that idea! I am a huge advocate of cuddling and I think it would be so sweet if my bf gave me a soft blanket for us to cuddle with. Plus, that is a cheap and practical gift. [/ QUOTE ] i just got a full/queen sized from JCPenny. it was $80 on sale for $48 and then i got another 10% off so $45 total with tax. not super cheap but amazingly comfortable edit: chrismadden is the brand |
