Also there's no reason to allow Rc8+, our h-pawn isn't going anywhere so there's no rush.

If it's Rc8+ is really a mistake for him why prevent it. Or is your position that even if its worked out up and down, you are afraid we might miss something? I guess it depends on if how you approach risk....

How did Philly end up for you? Doh.. wait its only Saturday night..... ?? So confused.... did not sleep last night..
How's it going?

Strega, if you are here, what do you think of Rg6?

On 29...hxg3 30.Rc8+ Kh7 he can just go 31.hxg3 and now we are unnecessarily exposed.

If 29...Nc3 30.Rc2 Rd6 is strong. He's got some back rank problems. 31.Qf3 h3 etc. He should come up with a better 30th move than Rc2.

On 29...Rg6 30.Rc8+ Kh7 31.Qh3 looks annoying.

TimM, I agree with your Rg6 analysis. However what do you think of this:

29. ... hxg3 30. Rc8+ Kh7 31. hxg3 Nxg3

if 32. Qxg3 then 32. ... Rg6 and we win the Queen
if 32. fxg3 then 32. ... Qxe6+ and we're in a much better spot

if instead of 31. hxg3 he does 31. Qh3, we do 31... Rh6 32. Bxg6 gxf2+
33. Kf1 Qa8+ 34. Ke2 and we have more checks

also 31. f4 gxh2+ and we win a pawn with play.

But you're right, I don't think that our line works out in the end.

What about 29. ... Qe6? Defending the c8 square and the pawn, I haven't looked too deeply into the variations yet though

Now that my sugar levels are normal, yes we don't want to get crazy and allow a free check..

29. ... Qe6
Can't call it horrible but the queen is nice in the center, why move it further away.

29... Nc3 appears to be the top move at this point...

Another thought....

29.... Nc3 Seems "fine" but is it subject to any witchcraft? Using the trust your nose approach I sort of have a scent that it might be subject to something...

One possible example and hopefully this is terribly flawed!

29..... Nc3
30. Rxc3 Qxc3
31. Qxb2 Qa1+
32. Kg2 Qxa2 (possibly h3 will come into play?)
33. Qa8+ Kh7
34. Qe4+ g6
35. Bd4 ooppsss

Even in positions that appear simple and safe we have to be on the look out for danger....
