Dealing with blinds in an ante dealer's choice

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense, especially if there's a rotation. if it's dealer's choice every single hand, then it's a bit unfair. But at the same time, it's that dealer's choice. I suppose a blinds situation is unfair in an every-hand-different situation, so I guess it also makes sense for the dealer to just ante that hand, too. Will change it a bit, but variety is the spice.

Interesting solution. Maybe a PITA to keep everything moving around, maybe not. However, if I'm going to be in a blind, I'm not calling a blind game... and so the button might lag for a while or even get lapped by the deck?

That's correct.
There's essentially 2 buttons, one for the dealer and one for the SB/BB. This way no one gets jipped on blinds and yes, the SB/BB button can be lapped by the dealer.

"Dealer ante" means that the dealer antes for everyone. It's actually a great way to play assuming that a game choice lasts for an entire orbit. This way:

1) You don't constantly have to say "Who forgot to ante?"
2) You don't need to use extra-small denomination chips for antes--e.g. If you're playing 2/4 for both blind and stud games, the dealer simply antes a predetermined amount between $2-$4 during stud rotations, rather than requiring the use of $0.25 or $0.50 chips.

Consequently, assuming everyone agrees that a game should last for an entire rotation, it's silly not to make it "dealer ante."

FWIW, I think that playing dealer's choice for one hand is retarded.
