ohh please. i value the opinion of posters on message boards (baseball anyways) tenfold over the media idiots you are referring to.

you can disagree with jack, but dont use the medias thoughts as a backup to your beliefs.

Right... why not just take someone on this forum to head up the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve instead of getting someone who is a paid specialist to replace Greenspan.

Not at all, you're trying to use your hatred for a couple paid sports guys to rationalize that they're all worthless, which simply isn't true.

So, I come back with using your logic. There's a couple paid guys on TV that talk money who are bad at what they do. So that means anyone on this forum could replace Greenspan and do better than anyone else on TV.

Anyway, to sum it up, the Seahawks are roughly better in every single aspect of the game EXCEPT the secondary

Pretty much every paid sports person would say the complete opposite minus a very few positions. I think I'll go with 100 people who get paid to do this for a living than a salty fan on a message board.

I don't have anything against the Steelers. I <3 Big Ben and defended him to the death in the original Ben/Eli thread.

Seattle's a much better running team, they're a little better in passing/stopping the run. I'm not sure the difference in the last two matters, but I'm not sure the difference in secondaries is as big as everyone believes. The Steelers defense can be passed on, and you know this as much as anyone.

PS: I get paid to write about sports, too.

While true, this comes with a huge *

Steelers, playing straight up pass defense, are well below average at covering guys. This is a true weakness of a 3-4 defense, where you count on your LB's too much in pass defense.

However, the Steelers don't really ever play a straight up pass defense. Their pass defense is their pressure they get on the QB. This is why Manning looked like garbage. Did he have guys open in that Indy game? All day long, especially his check downs. With the pressure he had on him though, he never had time to find the open man.

This is where I believe the game is going to be won or lost. The Steelers won't stop Alexander, but they'll contain him to where he won't beat them. That will leave holes in the pass defense, and it all depends on what kind of pressure they get on Matt

I think the Steelers offense will be fine. I think they'll be able to run the ball and control a drive with their run. I think they'll play more pass once Seattle starts bringing that 8th man to stop the Steelers.

Steelers aren't a high scoring team though when they are able to effectively run the ball. I'm seeing them putting up 24 points. It's up to the defense to win the game from there. As I said before, I believe that all rides on the pressure they get on Matt.

Of course this all relies on no turnovers for both teams.

I really don't think you'll be seeing a lot of pressure on Matt. Expect to see a lot of max protect with the best OL in football. They might as well not even send Joey Porter against Walter Jones.

I don't think either running game will factor too heavily into this one, IMO. Maybe Willie breaks a 20 yard run or something, but this will be about the QBs against their defense.

The only team with a comparable pass rush to the Hawks are the Colts

[/ QUOTE ]

due respect Jack, but this demonstrates that you're not paying attention to situational football. both teams appeared to have elite pass rushes b/c of the situations their offenses put them through throughout the season. you can't just look at it in a vaccuum like that.

I stole this image and I'm probably going to post it in every superbowl thread because I think it's funny. That is all.

My disinterested guess is Seattle 17, Pittsburgh 13.

The Steelers stock is high right now because of how convincingly they handled what were considered the 2 best teams in the league in their stadiums.

IMO if Seattle wins they will be considered one of the best offensive lines/running teams ever. For them to be a great team they will need to win another SB, and their defense will have to be more consistent next year.
