This is only tangentially related, but when did they come up with this new machine for copying keys? Back in the old days there was always a guy grinding them out by hand but now they have a machine that they just stick your key and a blank in and it pops out the new one in about 30 seconds. They keys seem to be really good too, none of the hit and miss copies of the old days.

Heh, I like using the machine where I grind it myself. That way you can take a little more off if necessary or modify a key to be the right shape. We have people coming in all the time saying that the keys we cut usually work better than those computer cut keys.

I'm sure if you have a good technician the old way is great, but I've gotten numerous crappy keys over the years. It is a huge pain in the ass to go to the hardware store to get keys made, drive home and find out the don't work and have to drive back and do it over again.
Also, I'm they guy that goes to the 24 hour place in the middle of the night. It is great that the high school kid can make me a key at 2am now. Before you were pretty much [censored] if the one or two guys who could grind you a key weren't there.

2000 Blazer? Like, Damon Stoudamire? Bonzi Wells? Arvydas Sabonis? Overhyped, IMO.

Thy wand'ring mind, a travesty,
That costs thee Blazer's only key.

O Tennenbaum, O Tennenbaum,
How silly are thy hijinks.

I guess it's probably like a manual vs automatic. Sure an automatic will work and there's less of a chance to screw everything up, a manual just feels like there's more control. Plus I'm not sure exactly how long an automated key cutter takes, but to cut and buff a simple key takes me 30 seconds at the most.

Look, if you fail to appreciate my brilliance, which is, frankly, earth-scorching, let's face it, then that's really nobody's problem but your own.
