I agree that the deal itself is quite fast; competitive at least. It's the interstitial times that get somewhat painful, especially posting the antes in order in Stud games. Add this to autoposting being significantly slower than other sites and a quite long delay for the pot to be shipped and there's a lot of time between hands.

I just counted and there are five full seconds between the winner of a hand being determined and the start of the next hand. That's extremely slow and should be fairly easy to speed up.

Edit: by the start of the next hand I mean when SB is asked to post. That five seconds is all pot-shipping time.

This is spot on, please read this Lee. Deal is very fast without animation but the all-in's and time between hands etc is what slows things down a lot compared to other sites.

[/ QUOTE ]

correct.
turning off animation is not really the issue here.
I suspect that many of the players making the observations about how slow it is on turn and river in an all-in hand ALREADY have their animation turned-off anyway.

Time between hands is definitely a big issue here.
Long long pause sometimes that has absolutely nothing to do with animation.

We are reviewing dealing speeds at all the major sites; you definitely got our attention on that.

Note, though, that our deal is extremely fast. It may just be the animation that's bugging you. Until we're done with our research, you may find that turning off animation (In the main lobby: Options -> Animation) will solve the problem for you.

Thanks for responding. Myself and a bunch of people I've talked to have large databases in which we get less hands/hour in on Stars than at other sites, so we're not just imagining it.

I can't think of a site that has hands go slower than Pokerstars. ;o

Hah, judging by Lee's comment sometimes I get the feeling that they think that they're the only poker site in existence.

(On the other hand, if they make these improvements in this thread, it may as well be the only site in existence. )

The three-level sort works ok, but it does not filter out all the chaff from the wheat.

How about also addressing the many requests about partial FPPs?

[/ QUOTE ]

Hi William -
We realize that many of our lower-limit NLH players feel that they're not getting much benefit from the FPP program. I don't know if we will start counting partial FPPs, but yes, we're listening. We are considering ways to address that, but obviously whatever we do will have big implications across the whole FPP program. We want to come up with the right solution the first time.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your reply. I'm sure you guys will figure something out now that you've told us you will.

Many will be thrilled by this, even if it means waiting a little longer.

Kind regards,
William

Start sng's the moment the last player has bought in, not "in one minute" as is currently the case.

Other than rakeback, which I assume is a non starter, this issue is going to be the single biggest thing to get guys at my level to play more at Stars.

I know we're beating a dead horse and I at least appreciate that you want to get it right the first time.

As a pro player who has not moved most of my play to Stars, but would potentially, the following stand out to me as great suggestions:

[ QUOTE ]

Speed up turn and river for cash games all ins.

[/ QUOTE ]
-Looks like this got your attention, awesome. It's not the animation, it's the software!

[ QUOTE ]

let us change our screen names every once in a while.

[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't really think about my name when I signed up, I would love to have a different one. Nothing huge, but it would be nice.

[ QUOTE ]
Sort out the blind structure for HU. This is big, please please do this.

[/ QUOTE ]
This would be awesome. Right now I only play HU on Full Tilt for this reason. HU in 6-max gets tables started, and I'm sure Stars wants that.

[ QUOTE ]
- Make it so you have to click on the chat box to start typing. WAYYYYYYYYYY to easy to accidentaly start tpying your [censored] in there .

[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
When I'm typing a note on someone or anything into a Stars table and it's my turn on another table it takes me there over and over so that I can never continue typing. It takes forever to keep going back and re-typing in the right box.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, this is a terrible feature of Stars.

[ QUOTE ]
Stop the slowrolling on all-ins

[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah what's the story with this? Ship the pot to the winner ASAP, give the loser a chance to reload, deal the next hand. Save the drama for afternoon television programming and WSOP broadcasts. (And LOST!!!)

[ QUOTE ]

Seriously 100bb default when buying into NL cash games. Its been said before but its a joke to jump into a 1/2nl game and 4 players have less than $100

[/ QUOTE ]
Also it's my experience that these tables break more quickly. You don't want that, right Stars?

[ QUOTE ]

5) deepstack tables (maybe 100bb min, 300bb max). this would be great for PLO or NLHE

[/ QUOTE ]
This would be oh so awesome, but I think this purely for selfish reasons.

[ QUOTE ]

1. Every time I open a new table the entire lobby minimizes to the system tray. Is this normal? very annoying.

[/ QUOTE ]
An option to turn this off on the Stars software would be awesome.

[ QUOTE ]

The FPP system should definitely take into account the number of players at the table. Six-handed play in particular gets screwed because we still pay the full $3 rake. At a ten-handed table that is 30 cents per player, at six-handed it is 50 cents per player, yet the FPP we receive is the same.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is huge, and I'm keeping a lot of my play at Full Tilt because I play 6-max NL and don't get full value for my play at Stars as a 4-8 table 6-max NL player.
