Jason is not going to be an i-banker. What in this thread gave you that idea? [/ QUOTE ] Whoops, my fault. It's about 14/6 for traders, isn't it? [ QUOTE ] "meth habit (I'm relatively sure that's *at least* a very large minority of NYC i-bankers)." My experience is that it is very rare for i-bankers to do meth. Now, coke on the other hand... [/ QUOTE ] I've only got half a foot in that scene but I've been hearing that the gay meth thing has spread to everybody else in NYC that works those hours while coke is kinda passe. I know that's not true on the other coast, and like I said I'm not the most informed about it these days, so who knows. |

Why would you trade when you can start MySpace and YouTube with El D? In any case, good luck Jason. Definitely a good choice. As has been mentioned, poker isn't going anywhere and you'll learn an incredible amount and meet some really amazing people working on the street.

Jason,
Buy a second jacket. Levae it hanging behind your door. At night, put jacket on chair, and leave office door open with light on. Then leave by back staircase. Matt |

Ansky, goo,
I am not doing trading for the money. I think that it is something that I will find interesting, and I am intrigued by the lifestyle. I hear a zillion wall-street horror stories, but I feel like I need to go there and see how it is myself and then go from there, instead of taking people's word about how it is a terrible life. In terms of doing good for the world, I probably will donate in the ballpark of 20-50k to charity this year. I know you were not talking about giving money, but at this stage in my life this is how I can make the biggest difference. -Jason |

ad,
"Whoops, my fault. It's about 14/6 for traders, isn't it?" None of the traders I've ever known has worked anything near that amount of hours. Guys who run multi hundred million dollar hedge funds, on the other hand, will often put in some big hours raising money, researching, managing operations, etc. As for meth, I have no clue what the young guys are doing. All of my friends still in finance in NYC are older and nobody in those circles does it. |
