any hope that the addition to the port security bill will be voted down?...or are we just going to have to deal with the fact that it is there and hope the language isn't that harsh and work around it.

[/ QUOTE ]

The only real chance if it doesn't come to a vote because of other things. Seems like a long shot.

Even if the Senate doesn't vote on it tonight, isn't there a pretty good chance they will pass it in the lame duck session? It only seems like a matter of "when," not "if" it's going to pass at this point. I hope I'm wrong.

Nate,

In all seriousness, are you worried about the money you have on poker sites? It may be stupid, but I'm concerned there will be panic and frozen funds. Is it not a worry at all? Will the banks start blocking this stuff early? Sorry if I'm being paranoid.

Jeff

Im' fairly certain that whatever this bill requires the banks to do they will not do so early. Banks aren't in the business of spending more money than they have to.

Hmm, I doubt that. The democrats aren't too happy with things in there and if they win big in the elections I doubt they'd pass this versio nin the lame duck session. That was part of the reason for the Republicans pushing so hard today.

Or at least thats the way I understood it.

I'm glad to see this process occurred with an open debate and the chance for the elected bodies to debate the pros and cons and wasn't just shoved through the backdoor by a man who wants to be President and couldn't give two [censored] about online gaming outside that context...

That's a nice thing to say when you call a Senator to try to stop this, but if it ever did get a real debate in the Senate, it would pass very easily. Look at what happened in the House. They did have a debate and it wasn't even close.
