Above all else, I want a girl who doesn't take anything too seriously. I detest girls who think the world is over if ... (enter ridiculousness).

All my long term girlfriends have commonalities:
1) Very smart and well educated 2) Successful in their chosen field (much more successful than I am) 3) Traumatic childhood (usually with abandonment issues) 4) High tolerance for eccentricity/flaws in men, or at least in men that they consider out of their league looks-wise. 5) Much better looking than they think they are (poor self image often tied into #3) 6) Undemanding when it comes to career/income/ability to focus on anything for longer than a month 7) Very emotionally needy, especially when it comes to feeling protected/safe (definitely tied into #3) edit...#8: Have no interest in taking [censored] from me or anyone else May not be what I'm looking for, but that's who I end up with. |

What I looked for, and found in my wife:
1. Personal Strength / Self-confidence. I've dated many women with low self-esteem, and it's really annoying to need to constantly validate somebody. I'm a pretty headstrong guy, and I want to be with somebody who wants me, not needs me. 2. Good sense of humor that's similar to mine. This usually is pretty closely related to #3. 3. Generally intelligent, which is less important than common sense. Very smart people with little common sense are sometimes interesting. |

Degen,
"They don't question their man in public, they cook and clean for him, they are very selfless and giving and basically are just awesome with regard to how they treat him. American women are kinda the opposite and are very concered with equality and independence etc. These things are not attractive to me in a woman." You and I are pretty much the opposite in terms of what we're looking for in a woman. BTW, a woman can be "concerned with equality and independence" and still be "selfless and giving" and "awesome with regard to how they treat" men. |

Wanting to be treated equally and have some independence does not mean that a woman does not want to be a good partner, but it should go both ways. A woman should not question or argue in public(nor should a man for that matter-its just rude and classless) but that does not mean she should not have a voice. A woman wants to be a partner, friend, lover...not servant. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] |
