[ QUOTE ]
they beat number 2 team, national champs, on the road. [/ QUOTE ] They beat a trumped up ranking, Vince Youngless + first year QB...don't make it out like they just knocked off some team that is a threat to a BCS game. If it weren't for their weak conference they wouldn't have a chance at a one of the non-BCS big bowls but we shall see. I am not knocking OSU by knocking UT, please understand this. |

UGAg is not a top 10 team. They've played a IAA school, two of the worst DI teams, and a scrappy UAB team.

psu is a tough team. remember last year. they have most of that team back, esp on d. [/ QUOTE ] They lost their best offensive player and most of their offensive line. They lost their D-Line and entire secondary. They returned 4/11 starters on defense. |

[ QUOTE ]
they beat number 2 team, national champs, on the road. [/ QUOTE ] So they played the 2005 National Championship Texas squad? No? It's the 2006 team. Well, that's all the same thing as long as Texas hasn't lost any key players to graduation...someone who made their entire offense go, basically...nope, can't think of one. You win. [ QUOTE ] you think they had a bad game against psu? they gave up 6 pts. psu couldnt do [censored] when it mattered. psu is a tough team. remember last year. [/ QUOTE ] Again, the teams change year-to-year. Penn State is, for reasons I mentioned, not good. Morelli is TERRIBLE. They make mistakes left and right. As with Texas, Robinson the QB really made the offense go. Moreso, really, since Texas had a very good O-line too, whereas PSU really doesn't have so much going on around him. That being said, yeah, of course you can make a case for them at number 1, and quite possibly the best case. But pretending it is an easy, open-and-shut case is ridiculous. |

bottomset,
No team has looked liked they belonged on the same field as them, not a very good Nebraska team nor a tough Arkansas team. An overrated though better win against Texas doesn't make me rank them higher b/c of schedule timing b/c still when I watch the games USC looks like the best team in the country. |

I do think you (and everyone else) is way overrating the SEC though, i really doubt they have 4 of the best 8 teams in the country. |

They lost their D-Line and entire secondary. They returned 4/11 starters on defense. [/ QUOTE ] off-topic: good news for you PokerFink. I saw real promise from the Nittany Lions this last week. In the fourth quarter, their offensive line took over. There were good holes for the RBs and time for Morelli. That was a real positive considering how thoroughly tOSU's defense dominated previously. The inexperienced group is gelling well. Now, if their d-line can catch up, and if Morelli could make progressions in his reads, they'll be a force. By the end of the year, this should be a team that no one wants to face. Unfortunately, they'll have to quicken the pace to hand Michigan and even the road game at Minnesota (whose run attack matches-up well v the PSU d right now). |
