My proudest accomplishment and what probably got me hooked on poker was winning a 5+1 omaha limit sng. It was about 3 years ago and I had just made my first deposit to party poker. I was running decent playing the sit and donkaments and one of my buddies was sweating me when I accidentally joined a limit omaha game. I literally had no idea how to play this strange game where you were dealt 4 cards. I decided it F*** it i was going to raise every hand to the river and wound up winning the tourney. I thought to myself hey omaha is easy.

I then took my $200 and went to the 1/2 limit 6 max omaha tables and ran it up to well over 1k in about a week using my non fail strategy. My strategy consisted of if i had 3 hands that I would play in hold em using any two card combination of the 4 cards i was dealt. I then cashed out my monies and had a great vacation. Not until the reefclub blackjack whoring fiasco did I learn about casino whoring and subsequently build up an adequate poker roll.

By the way my omaha system still works on low stakes when i'm bored and feel like a change of pace.

OMG, HOTMARK777!!?!?!?

my 2nd favorite poker moment was vs. you.

you were openning a bit and we tangled back and forth and we both had 7.5k or so.

this was when i first started playing 10/20NL (aka not very well) a while ago after building my new acct up.

i had black kings and you opened for your usual and i made it 450 or something, can't remember exactly the amts but the flop came down

Qd7d5d and you checked and i overbet the pot and you WAYYY OVER pushed all in. i almost timed out thinking and finally felt you had AdQx and called.

you did indeed have AdQx and didn't improve and i won my first 15k pot.

sooo...your finest poker moment was a hand that everyone agreed was terrible?

yes. not finest b/c i played well, finest b/c LOL I WON A 15k POT (and was 100% correct w/ my read)

in reality though, i was indeed only a 52/48 or so dog to the hand i was virtually certain he had getting like 2:1 or so from the pot.

everyone told me i played Sh*tty except james282. he said "you knew what he had and called. let everyone else berate the sh*t outta you. nh"

My proudest moment is more so just a story I suppose. Make of it what you will.

When I first got into poker about 2 years ago I had played in live games with friends and dabbled online here and there. Each time i'd played online poker however I would think it was rigged. I ended up losing about $500 which was a world of money to me at the time and I vowed never again am I going to play online poker in my life. I stuck to this for probably about a good 4-5 months. I get back to school and a friend of mine who owes me $50 says he wants to pay me by just transferring to my party poker account since he had been playing online. He sends me the money and since I cannot cash out for 8 hours I figure what the hell i'll go ahead and play some poker with it. I end up making like $200 and telling myself i'll cash out everything but pure profit and if I lose this pure profit i'm back to having quit poker forever. I truly felt that I was done if I lost this profit since i'd gone already 5 months without playing.

Well anyway, the $200 of profit I had in my account widdled down to about $2.85 and I was at the end of my rope. I remember shoving j/6o all in pre flop for my last $2.85 and got called by AA. I sucked out with j/6 and then took my $6 to a SNG and won that. I then managed to run lucky for a little bit and learn how to play somewhere along the line and built this all the way up to 6 figures. My entire poker existance is only because of my j/6 outdrawing AA. If I had lost that hand I would still be flat broke.

zomg, i saw the jason v. ocho hand, it was sick, everyone gave a big wtf.

i don't know if i qualify for HISTAKESPOKAH (highest i play is 5-10NL) but my greatest moment came in the main event on day 2.

background hand on the situation, jason always makes fun of me for being a tight nit. there was an awesome hand at the duke game that went like this:

1-1 blinds, 100 dollar buy in, me and jason are around 350 deep or so.

i have 33 UTG, i raise it up to 5, three ppl call behind me, including jason on the button.

flop is 359 two spades. i lead out for 15, MP calls, jason makes it 60, i call, guy folds.

turn Ks. check, check.

river 3. i ponder for a bit, then i push. jason goes into the tank for a while, and agonizes, and then finally calls with 55. i slap him in the face with the nuts, and he exclaims i am never calling a big bet from you on the river ever again. EVER!

that's how i'm known as a nit.

i already posted this hand in trip report, but it qualifies as also being my greatest poker moment, i guess.

day 2 of WSOP. later in the day i get seated next to phil ivey (already a finest poker moment in itself, ZOMG). i'm UTG, and i notice a loose n00b i want to take out with around 25k in chips. i have around 96k at this point, blinds 500/1000. i have a fairly tight image at this point, and i limp with 88 UTG. loose guy makes it 4k to go, and BB (around my stack size) calls. i take out a stack of yellows, and shove it out there.

"20 thousand to go" dealer remarks

loose n00b folds, and i'm thinking oh well, time to collect...but wait. bb holds on to his cards. i stay in my blank expressionless position, aided by my oakley romeos. he agonizes and says 16 thousand, that's a lot more. i was thinking FOLD FOLD GOD DAMN IT THIS SHOT WASN'T MEANT FOR YOU, etc.

finally guy goes, if i fold, will you show? i didn't know what to do, so i nodded, because people usually fold if you say yes, and also i expected him to turn over something like AK or JJ.

he did not do any such thing. he turned over kings.

ML4L once laid down kings to me preflop when i held aces. this time, i didn't have aces, and someone laid it down. i thought to myself sweet justice as i flipped over my eights. the whole table was like WTF.

even mr. ivey. i peeked a glance, and he had a raised eyebrow, i think. it was awesome.

My best hand is one that's been posted here a few times already and is a few months old.

it's the first hand, and the most notable one where i actually make good decisions and sound reasoning (tournaments have so much more of an LOL ALL IN element to them)
