TB,
"I know most people will be of the opinion that they'd rather have a few offers spoon-fed to them, than more offers that they have to find themselves, or at least know people who will find and tell them privately. That's fair enough." "So I'm not talking to those people. I'm talking to the people who do do extra research, or who think that, based on this incident, it might be worth their while to do so." "But I still contend that, if some of what I am saying was followed by some of you, those people would be better off." TB, I don't have any disagreement with your main points. It makes a ton of sense that people who are going to do the research about these bonuses and find out about stuff that is not common knowledge are likely to make more money by not saying anything about them. However, there are also many people who have no interest or motivation (financial or otherwise) to spend any time finding out about such offers. For people in that camp, which is the case for many people here (especially those who are successful poker players), it's definitely in their best interest to have every big bonus opportunity posted about. I think this is simply a case where your personal financial interests are not at all aligned with the majority of people on this forum. |

JM,
"But the fact that you cannot see how it is against your long term interest blows me away." If I will never play at an online casino ever unless I hear about some incredible bonus on 2+2, how is it against my long term interest for such offers to be posted here? |

But I still contend that, if some of what I am saying was followed by some of you, those people would be better off. Others would be worse off, but then isn't that usually always the case? Anyway I never really expected to achieve all that much, but I considered there nothing to lose. Good luck in your endeavours also. [/ QUOTE ] Very well said. Indeed, nothing ventured nothing gained. If it makes you feel better - here's a free +EV scalp for you at the sportsbooks on the Ryder Cup right now- Euro +100 US +140 Draw +1200. Great for clearing those 15-20% bonuses too. Or, take the winning team Under 16.5 -130 if you can still find it. Not risk-free, but a damn good bet imho. Sorry it's not as good as Party's offer, but I'm only one guy. best, |

amount of $ El Diablo will earn without offers posted here = 0 amount of $ El Diablo will earn with offers posted here = >0 Therefore it is + EV even if the offers become watered down. the above is the reality for most poker players here |

Conclusion: We most likely had no impact on the promo being yanked. [/ QUOTE ] Whatever your arguments, I speak only from the experience that 2+2 kills promos at an alarming rate. There was one just last week. The fact that it was posted here and discussed at length was quite possibly noticed and caused panic. You talk about Party Casino as if you know them, but just because they are run by a poker site that you know intimately, does not mean they will behave as you expect. It's quite likely a different team, and they certainly have very different strategies. The rakeback example is irrelevant. This is the world of casinos, and Party Casino's actions were neither surprising nor unprecedented. [ QUOTE ] If we killed it for you, we don't care. [/ QUOTE ] Of course, I quite understand. But I'm hoping that someone here - and you won't be one obviously - will realise that, for him or her personally, not sharing is more profitable. I hope the OP might think that he would be $6-12k in EV richer if he hadn't posted it. Even if he doesn't, I hope someone else who in the future might post a bonus to 2+2, will now think twice. That it helps me will be irrelevant to them. [ QUOTE ] If Party did get scared that their Promo was going to bring in too many undesireable players and therefore yanked it, they made a huge mistake. [/ QUOTE ] Again, whatever the actual casino habits of the average 2+2 reader, the fact is that 2+2 does kill bonuses. Maybe all those casinos are really stupid and they should leave the bnuses, and let 2+2ers join and then donk away the profits. But they don't, because they see 1000 new signups in 2 days and they panic. Or in Party's case, they see a site that they know has sent 1000 of bonus players to other casinos start talking about their promo with huge EV predictions and plans to multi-table. So they panic. Who cares what their motives or perceptions are, it's the result that counts. |

You realize how close you came to that situation on more than one occasion in the past? Again, why would ANY professional gambler want to water down casino offers/comps/bonuses? This applies to B&M and online. I've never understood why you zoofags think it's so smart to educate the masses on poker either. You really love Sklansky and Malmuth so much that besides blowing them anytime they want that you want to make them richer by selling more of their books and web advertising? While at the same time you educate the masses on being better poker players? Yeah, you guys are real bright. [/ QUOTE ] Can I play you HU for bankrolls? I will be in LV Oct 5-9, and will have ~20k on me. |

JM amount of $ El Diablo will earn without offers posted here = 0 amount of $ El Diablo will earn with offers posted here = >0 Therefore it is + EV even if the offers become watered down. the above is the reality for most poker players here [/ QUOTE ] This is true -- no argument. But our intended audience here is not El Diablo or other successful poker players who don't spend time researching casino exploits. It's the people who do and then feel the urge to post the info on 2+2, usually with a title in all capital letters. How would you argue that it was +EV for the OP to start this thread? It clearly wasn't -- perhaps he got some other non-monetarly value from it in terms of attention and potential gratitude, but was that really worth that much monetary loss? All of us here who are behind TheBloke do very well at casino gambling, but ~$15k EV in 3 days is still huge, especially in the constantly deteriorating environment that is casino whoring. True, we are posting here to defend personal financial interests because we are compelled to do everything to defend our business model from a forum that really hurts our bottom line. But the argument we use is still valid -- if you happen to hear about a great promo, posting about on 2+2 is financial insanity for YOU. OP, and other OPs to come, why would you give a [censored] if anyone else at 2+2 makes money from Party's or some other casino's generosity -- share it with a friend or two who will reciprocate with you, pounce on it yourself, but other than that could you please keep quiet the next time? |
