I predict that in at least 3 years Jamie Gold will eclipse Hellmuth in terms of infamy and poker media obsession.
He will be very good for the future of poker. Any publicity is good publicity, Gold knows this better than anyone. |

[ QUOTE ]
There was no way he would have laid down the best hand and openly admit it. Gold is obviously smarter than people think. If someone colludes to they openly say so with the TV cameras rolling? [/ QUOTE ] I haven't seen any of the main event on TV, but having heard his now "famous" radio interview, I wouldn't put anything past him in terms of cluelessness. It's definitely 'within the realm of possibility' that someone could get far into the main event and not understand much about collusion and ethics. Again, I haven't seen any of the tv stuff. |

And his chatter did a great job of getting mahatma to lay down those 7's when he knew he was good. [/ QUOTE ] So far this is the one time i've seen Gold outplay somebody. He got somebody to lay down 77 as the preflop raiser when the board was A-high. At all other times he basically held the nuts. He also got his money in bad a couple of times. I guess i'm still waiting for "...by far the greatest display of poker talent in the history of poker." |

I love Raymer and Hachem and hate Gold, there goes your whole jealousy theory.
Most of the criticism of Gold does not stem from his play, but rather his very obnoxious and borderline unethical table talk. |

Bad players make good plays from time to time. Obviously his style is also good for acumulating chips which is important in tournaments. Everybody i've talked to that has played with him in a cash game has told me he is a donator. It's possible they're wrong because he has an atypical and high variance style but i doubt it. |

I can't wait to see what everyone had. |

Exactly. Varkoyi is a dork maybe but he's not a prick. There's a huge difference between the two for anyone over the age of fifteen. Plus I wouldn't worry about Varkonyi cheating me or shooting angles if we happened to be the same tables. Gold, however... |
