Hi John!,
Good to hear from you. Anyway... [ QUOTE ] Based on your advice here some years ago, I bought a Flowbee last winter. I used it to cut my hair to 1" all over. Worked great, though I did sort of mess up the back the first time. [/ QUOTE ] Good move, this validates all those posts I made over the years I'm 2" all around, but use the graduated plastic offset piece (2" on one side, about 1" on the other) to go around the bottom of the side and back. But a trim of the very back needs scissors every month or so (unless you want a real shaggy look), so I need help at least in the back. I'm glad I didn't grow up in the last ten or twenty years, I think I would look really look bad with the very short "high and tight" style hair. My ears are way too big and long (think LBJ) and essentially I'm a pencil necked geek, so I have lots of sins that can be covered with hair. But I no longer keep a lot of hair in front of the ear; I eventually realized that looks sort of like a bald guy with a comb over . [ QUOTE ] For the last several months, though, I've been letting my hair grow out. Going for a late '70s Keith Carradine look, though I'm not sure my hair will do it. [/ QUOTE ] I had to Google image Keith Carradine to refresh my memory, but that would look good for you, especially since you live in one of those ex-hippie sort of towns [ QUOTE ] But no one need laugh at the Flowbee. If you have a simple style, like 1" all over, it's the perfect hair cutting machine. [/ QUOTE ] If you like an occasional glass of wine you need to try my other big money saving tip - boxed wine. If you see it in one of those fancy grocery stores (your state's version of Whole Foods Market) or even in Target, try it. Listen to enough of my tips and you can retire even earlier! [ QUOTE ] BTW, I've reverted to a parted style too. To hell with what's in style; I'm goin' with what I like. [/ QUOTE ] Me too. Hard to adapt hew styles as you age. But I do like those baggy cargo pants and shorts for playing poker. Otherwise I keep the preppy look I grew up with. Take Care, ~ Rick |

I go every 3-4 weeks. Walk-in. Haircut is $15 and I leave $20.

I let the hair accumulate on the bathroom floor until I have company so sometimes it piles up a good bit. [/ QUOTE ] Well that's the dirtiest thing I've read today, congrats. |

Listen to enough of my tips and you can retire even earlier! [/ QUOTE ] Probably only a few people hear were around for some of your contributions to threads on creative money saving ideas. You da master. You might even consider one of those, "Ask Rick how to save money" threads. Even a book could be a viable project. Skeptical as I am on this, I'll look at some boxed wine. I love red wines, but in recent years they seem to make me very tired. I'm getting old, I guess. (Not as old as you of course, but pretty damn old! ) I still try to drink it when I can, though, because it's supposed to be so good for you. |

I don't have enough for a book plus I wouldn't have credibility (ie., why am I so broke?). I remember more our exchanges regarding saving time, in particular where you can leave the freeway to get around clogs when traveling from your former home in San Diego to the Commerce That's a good trick. [/ QUOTE ] The bettter boxed wine is good when your only having a glass or two since its so easy and stores well. Apparently its the standard way of packaging wines in Australia, and we know those Aussies have class. But when gf and I (same one BTW) want to get a little tipsy, we go for the full bottle of Two Buck Chuck. I've really turned her spendthrift ways woff, which is good if you hope to marry someday. ~ Rick PS If you go for a red wine, I'd stick with something from Whole Paycheck Market for boxed wine. The Target Reds aren't too good. |
